We have an aloe plant and we always nip the top of a leaf and rub the sap on our skin if we get a burn. It works much better than conventional medecine.

You can mix it with lemon juice and it is a nice drink. Very good plant! An ayurvedic Dr. told me not to take it for more than 30 days straight internally.

Maybe it is differant if you take a processed form, but if your snipping the leaves and munching on it then it is a differant story. I wouldn't do it, unless I had a patsy to do it first.

I grow a lot of aloe vera. It's very prolific and easy to grow. I'm impressed how well it works on insect bites and any kind of skin irritation. Seems to promote more rapid small cut healing as well. Haven't ingested any but I'm sure the web is full of articles on safe internal uses. Wonderful stuff.

I could be wrong but weren't you the fella talking about that intestine cleaning stuff a year or so ago? I remember those same glowing words were used to describe a variation of metamucile. I got to tell you a red flag went off when you mentioned how only a certain type of aloe from a certain company would do the trick. again I could be wrong and I apologize in advance if I am but your aloe spiel sounds almost like an infommercial.

There was some aloe outside one of the houses I lived in in Melbourne, Florida (well actually I rented a small room there & then, to save money, I lived out of my van in the driveway). I don't know what variety it was but I loved the stuff. It felt great on my skin and tasted very mild, almost like cucumber.
