my cousin is back .. what a bore...

My cousin sympathy came back from Indonesia yesterday. She says she needs a long vacation - whatever.

We got started talking about peak oil, and she burst out crying... She was blobbering about something or other, I wasn't listening 'cause I was watching some cartoon on tv and even that was beyond boring.

I wanted to get up and get a coke but she was still on me, getting my shirt wet. I played the dying of thirst card and up she went and got me a coke 'Oh,' I said, 'I'm not that thirsty anymore.'

She burst out at me and asked if I had listened to a single word she said. I said 'No', because I might not care, but I'm honest.

I just wanted to ask you people, think my cousin sympathy will have a job come post peak? How about too much of a job? Either way, doesn't matter to me. She seems pretty worried about the future though, anything you can say to make her feel better?

*sigh*, if you dont bother giving a reply, I understand because I wouldn't either. Besides, I dont really care if you do or if you dont even read this.

I doubt that there will be any place for sympathy.

my sympathy has whithered as my tolerance for death has increased. Need to start preparing ourselves for thousands of deaths splashed on our tv screens....sympathy doesn't help you cope, it just paralyzes you.

It all starts with the concept of 6 billion....when you can grasp how much 6 billion is, who gives a fuck about a million or 10.

500,000 people a month die of aids and malaria, things we have the means to do something about very easily. When all these crybabies who are freaked about the tsunami "victims" start caring about the kids dying all over the world of malaria and diarrhea and aids, give me a ringy.

Tell your cousin (from someone who has died twice) that dying isn't the hard part. Its living life, and its living after people who were with you died, or watching them die while you didn't.

You don't have to care, you don't have to have sympathy. but you could at least pretend. watch your tv, make a few comments like uh huh, uh huh, in the right places. or you can admit to her that you are already dead.

I have no time for those who would deny they are human, they are the ones who will not be able to take it. they are the ones who will break before the onslaught.
