{So that there's flowable continuity, stu's excerpt is included; EE}

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('stu', 'N')ot exactly a book specifically related to hydrocarbon issues I suppose but then I guess that depends where you stand on the reasons for "The War on Terror".

This book is an examination of the attacks of 9/11 and is written in a coherent and non-sensationalist manner. Griffin sets out to examine the facts as we know them about 9/11 and uses many sources to paint a VERY different picture of what we know about 9/11.

He examines all the evidence and raises issues that he says need urgent clarification. Such as why did it take the jets so long to respond to the hijackings? How could the Twin Towers have collapsed when there is no record of any tall building being made out of steel collapsing due to fire? What happened to other footage of the Pentagon crash? Was it really a plane that crashed into the Pentagon?

Griffin offers alternative theories to the events based on evidence that has been reported both in the mainstream media and from investigative reporters. He also analyzes how far up the chain of command knowledge of the attacks went.

Personally this book has totally transformed the way that I look at 9/11. Whereas Crossing the Rubicon seemed to be a bit more extreme, Griffin writes in a manner that analyzes the facts thoughtfully and offers the reader to come to their own conclusion. Put this on your Amazon list now.

So-if it was not a plane that hit the Pentagon what would there have been for Air Force jets to shoot down?

This is the biggest flaw with the pentagon crash conspiracy. If you check out this flash animation presentation it will raise a lot of questions about the Pentagon crash.

http://www.peakoil.com/post43823.html

If you look at the photos of the crash site and the holes created by the impact you have to decide whether or not a plane crashed into the Pentagon. Personally I see no plane wreckage and those holes seem to be too neat for a plane crash. The size of the holes is surely smaller than a commercial airliner cockpit. This of course raises the question of what happened to flight 77?

In Crossing the Rubicon Ruppert briefly talks about a plane with passengers that landed in Ohio. I can't remember all the details (I've lent the book to a friend so I can't check :x ) but I remember Ruppert offering what happened here as the only explanation. People who believe that it was not a plane that crashed into the Pentagon cannot offer any solid evidence as to what actually happened to the passengers. That's when you start going into far out theories and making claims that maybe they were all murdered or maybe the plane crashed somewhere else.

Another piece of evidence that Griffin claims is that apparently the Pentagon has a missile defence system around it to shoot down enemy projectiles. The reason that it would not have activated, according to Griffin, is because the system would have identified the US Army missile as friendly.

Personally from all the evidence I've seen it's got me asking a few questions.

Only if you're dumb enough to think that the few pictures they present in that moronic flash video are the only pictures. There are Plenty of other photos that clearly show plane debris, and plenty of efvidence that the airliner did crash into the Pentagon.

A good read.

That last link "a good read" has fairly good summaries from all sides.

Great Links Philbiker :)

Its skeptics such as you that stop questioning people like from me from turning into dribbling tinfoil-hat-wearing-lunatics. [smilie=5obsessed.gif]

Lots of stuff to read here which I should get through soon.

Interesting equation: Discrediting of Griffin Book= Dicrediting of people who really reccommend it (Such as myself  )= discrediting of Richard Heinberg- Key PO expert.

Maybe some PO experts are a lot more fatalistic than others. [smilie=eusa_think.gif]

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')aybe some PO experts are a lot more fatalistic than others.
I'd go so far as to say that lots of peak oil experts are full bore tinfoil hat wack jobs. That's why they and the entire peak oil movement is discredited out of hand by many. However, I'm convinced that there are enough credible peak oil advocates (Defeyes, Simmons) who are not wack-jobs that the cause has merit.

However, people like Ruppert and Heinberg when they espouse 911 conspiracy lunacy do themselves and all of us an immeasurable discredit. :( THEY are why no-one will ever take this seriously.

I have a friend whose son is a naval officer in DC who knows several people who claim they saw the 757 hit , or in approach to, the pentagon. The question they have is: "Where did they find a pilot who could fly a 757 like an F-16?" Certainly not some ragheads with a few hours on a simulator!
