The Global Response To Peak Oil

We already know how irrational humans are. There will be witch hunts without a doubt. Just a glance at our own forum shows this is true. The crazy fringe nuts that Leanan mentioned. But peak oil will bring out the worst in all of us. I haven't posted much here lately. Too much crap.

W.B Yeats

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in the sands of the desert.

A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Humans have always found it easier to demonize and blame others than to accept responsibillity for our own actions.

I see PO coming down the same way, the poor of the world blaming the major consumers, the major consumers blaming everyone but themselves, and barring an all out war a lot of small scale mayhem and madness.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Alfred Tennyson', 'W')e are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

I see U.S. gas prices going over $4 a gallon by the end of summer. 8)
