Don't freak!

It's just a peak!

Enjoy the view!

There's room for two!

See down there?

It's not so fair.

So linger here!

Enjoy a beer!

Then down we go!

To join the show!

Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Love it. Although the rhyme gives PO a little too much "rosey" feel.

I'm sure in a post-PO crushed economy with crippiling unemployment and poverty, with mob rule things will be slightly different!!!

I suppose Dr. Seuss is not well known in the UK?

He wrote a series of bright and colorful childrens books in the 50's and 60's that were full of the optimism of those times.

The same optimism that landed us in our current predicament.

Here's one for anyone OUT there.

There is a planet called earth,
You better give it a wide berth,
It's fate it was cruel,
The inhabitants burned all the fossil fuel,
And slowly heated themselves to death.

Yes, life does tend to push into exponential difficulties. The infinite universe has ample room, but lacks easy access.

This is A Good Thing, in my view.

Agent Smith is great! 8)

MD, your poem reminded me of a leather postcard I have from 1907, that I was just using as a mouse-pad...

If you should find
The horse gone lame,
The cart all smashed -
the auto: same -
You won't look glum -
I'm having fun -
And you wouldn't have me
dies of ennui: Now, would you?

I wouldn't say that. Many of his books were warnings to the upcoming generation: The Butter Battle Book (nuclear war), The Lorax (unchecked industrial growth and its effects on the environment), and the Star-Bellied Sneeches (the dangers of blind conformity).

Cool old piece, S_C. I think the verse is actually:

"And you wouldn't have me
die of ennui: Now, would you?"

Does change the meaning a bit. Ennui was a common word back then, found in other song lyrics. (means "world-weariness/boredom", in a high-falutin' sense)

Aha! I now it finally makes sense! I was thinking it must be some other word, but I didn't know so I just stuck in envy... Now I envy you, but I'm not ennui!

Thanks snowshoegal! :-D

Fabulous piece of leather. Are you sure you want to mouse-pad it to death?

Seriously, I see you inked the "u" back into the leather. Do you know how the gash got there in the first place?

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MD', 'F')abulous piece of leather. Are you sure you want to mouse-pad it to death?
 Well, it was only that morning. I needed something with some texture to steady my optical mouse doing a quick photoshop edit in the morning and I saw this topic. It's not my usual mouse pad, It's now back in it's plastic postcard case.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('MD', 'S')eriously, I see you inked the "u" back into the leather. Do you know how the gash got there in the first place?
No idea, but it has been though a few hands in it's time... It was originally addressed to Pennsylvania, but since 1907 made it's way to Arkansas where I picked it up. And now it's in Massachusetts. It gotten around. I like how it shows an early lack of confidence in transportation, but a good attitude also. It's an unusual card and I'll probably mail it sometime.

Another good card I still have is of an Arkansas oil well. It is this picture of a really ugly spray of dark oil in the sky marring the landscape in front of a red sunrise. The picture is titled "Arkansas - The land of beauty"! Someone in the 50's thought that was beautiful... I traded that card for some ceramic buttons I made because it looked amusing. And I'll mail that one someday too.
