It's not uncommon to have rental places completely destroyed when evicting tenants. Not shocked that it's happening with fore closures.

Worst I ever heard about was someone blocking all of the drains siliconing around the doors and windows and turning on the taps filling the place with water for a few days. I've personally seen rental units where the person took the appliances and all cabinets with them when they left. There is no way I'd ever rent to someone after seeing the damage left by a few.

That's why landlords require a "security deposit" and first+last months rent when you want to rent an apartment.

They have to insure themselves against lunatics who might damage their property.

I think the guy still has to pay the debt even if he destroyed the house. Unless he declares bankruptcy, he is still legally liable.

two months rent isn't going to come close to covering the damage those pigs did in the first 10 minutes of being inside. It's real easy to do thousands in damage in a modern place. The guy foreclosed on the house so destroying his credit rating over the damage is unlikely to accomplish anything. Around here the animal cruelty charges will put him in jail longer then charges for trashing the place.

The pigs were overkill. A few pieces of chicken in the air conditioning system and ducts would have ruined the place, and would have taken only a few days to fester and get all maggoty.
