800 BILLION in IO/ARMs to Reset

Discussions about the economic and financial ramifications of PEAK OIL

Gideon,

Your post resonated deeply with me. I think one of the greatest tragedies/crimes of the last few decades (only the last decade in Ireland), is that society labels frugality or living with in your means as an embarrassment. I see people driving around in $80,000 Audi 4x4s complaining about fuel prices. Hardly anyone will ever say, "we couldn't go out for dinner this weekend because we can't afford it". It would be easier for people to admit to a serial killer in the family than to admit to financial woe.

It goes further than that however. There are people out there who view putting in CFL bulbs or cycling a bike as being somehow stingy or uncool. My wife was in company recently and mentioned to a group of "friends" that I drive a car that runs on vegetable oil. One of them said, "I like the environment but I think something like that is OTT (over the top)". I can't compute that attitude under any circumstances and I reiterate to you and to all on this board to focus your energies on saving yourself. I have lost friends and reputation by trying to preach the message (neither loss is of any consequence to me). I won't even be adequately prepared myself when TSHTF, not that you could ever be fully prepared for the consequences of PO.

The process of learning about peak oil is Darwinian in my opinion. Those that listen to the message, acknowledge it and act on it should be okay. The message itself has been advertised enough at this stage.

Hmmm. I suspect not for awhile yet. Most likely a majority of the people that can't handle the reset will have one or more family members somewhere to backstop them for a time. You know, "just until things settle down"...

True!!!! I've been talking about it to friends, even some strangers  I just don't see, what's the harm. It's happening, it's real, why not talk about it? Share ideas? Maybe they have some for me, maybe I can help to warn them, etc.

Talking about money now is like talking about sex in the 1950s.

The bone crushing thud from the collapse of the housing market is being heard around the world.

The UK is finally beginning the tank.

This event is triggering the current recession and will trigger a credit contraction the likes have never been seen before.

THEN - when we need cheap oil most to fire up manufacturing to pull the world out of the Greatest Depression - IT WILL NOT BE THERE.

So yes...this is triggering event and the ushering in of the economic collapse that we have been predicting and waiting for.

Pass the popcorn please.

Thats only because you burnt the fricking oil to drive around town ;)

I hold you entirely responsible for the SHTF snacks being healthy instead of deep fried.

The level of desperation is exquisite.

Free $100,000 S 550 Mercedes to the realtor that can find a buyer for this house.

This is gonna end so very badly!!!

Pass the popcorn please.

"It's a great time to be a buyer" - Uhh?

So, are ordinary Americans starting to talk about how seriously they're fucked? Or is the housing market and amount on the credit card something polite people just don't bring up in conversation for fear of the neighbour's wife bursting into tears and the neighbour telling you to leave?

Oh man...not just F'd homedebtors are screwed, the banks, employees at home depot selling ply woord, jet ski salesmen, the waitress at The Outback...EVERYONE

Anyone who thinks...hey I rent...or hey I got a fixed rate...or hey I own outright...I won't be affected...YEAH RIGHT!!!!.

This shit is gonna pulverize everyone on the planet...because the trigger for a $300 TRILLION credit contraction has been pulled (i.e., the housing bust)...consumerism drys up...we stop buying cheap shit from china...and china stops buying our debt.

The rest as they say is history.

Interesting .... in the movie (MUST-SEE) The Money Masters, it's mentioned that a Depression is always brought on by a contraction of credit. Pinch the money supply, and you get a depression. Always.

Hey Roc, how did such a fine and upstanding believer in Doom such as yourself EVER get booted out of LATOC? Seems to me your core beliefs should fit right in over there.

Matt Savinar is a liar.

He said I posted Crude Awakening here. I didn't.

I do think it should be free, but the wad banned me at LATOC for "encouraging" crude awakening to be free.

For a guy who proclaims the end is nigh...it mystifies me why he gets on a plane June 6th to south america to BEGIN to look for an off grid place. Seems like he was a little distracted to be further along with his preps.

Shill.

Why would this be a problem? People post video's, book reviews, all kinda stuff all the time. Something special about this one?
