The evil that we do

Must-see video.

I do not agree with PETA on a number of things. I do not believe being vegetarian is natural for people. PETA tends to see the things in this film as the outcome of human moral failing - that can be cured by going vegetarian. I see every single scene in this horrible film as the natural outcome of cheap fossil fuel and the subsequent mechanization of every possible part of our lives. The horrible, calculated, cruelty in the film is simply not possible in a hunter-gatherer society and neither in an Amish type subsistance farming society.

This video has been around for many years, anyone who eats industrial meat probably hasn't seen it. Farm-raised fish is even worse, "natural" flesh color of such salmon is a greyish yellow, with companies that sell different variations of carcinogenic chemical agents that artificially color the flesh pink.

Only free range organic meat and wild fish for me!

I always thought it was worse than what they show in the video, so it wasn't that big of a shock to me. The problem with slaughterhouses to me is that there is just a lot of killing going on in this day and age. That is the unnatural thing about it, not that say an animal dies, but that say 50000 die there each day.

I guess it's just a highly visible aspect of our extrapolation from our own lives that makes it worse too.

I never seen this video but I'm not surprised for one bit. I have known for a long time that we treat our animals bad, real bad.

All this will stop though, as soon as we don't have oil. Right now I don't give a f*** about the climate, drive your cars, boats, planes, traktors, motorbikes or whatever to make this oil run out quicker. The sooner the better.

i live on a farm ..
and i know that stuff like this happens quite often. Sadly in the world we live in, in order to make a profit people almost have to treat animals like that. We don't treat our animals like that, we have free range chickens etc. And we have few enough animals that we can look after them properly. But often this isn't the case. You can't look after a sick animal if you have thousands of them.

I am a walking contradiction and a hypocrite. I love animals and can't stand to see them abused but I still eat meat 3 times a week. Maybe its time to shuck off the meat eating?

What contradiction? Have you not considered what eating meat from tortured, drugged, diseased animals has done to you? "You are what you ___" 8O
