I've just tuned in and have missed a large part of this lecture. It is a very interesting talk on globalization, population and water shortage amongst other things.

So far energy doesn't seem to have been mentioned but I'm going to listen again as I missed a large part.

just thought I'd mention it

an mp3 can be downloaded legally from the bbc radio 4 site as we brits pay a big tax so the rest of the world can get some quality bbc . :)

Edit: spelled his name wrong

Thank you very much for your tax donations to the BBC. We get a lot of BBC programming free here in the U.S.

I also listened to the BBC a great deal when I lived
in Europe. I found the BBC news coverage can be so biased that they become unintentially silly. For instance, right now a BBC reporter has been abducted by a Palestinian militia group in the Gaza strip. Its tragic. However, the BBC has always tilted their news in favor of the Palestinian cause, so their coverage of the kidnap story mentions Mr. Johnston was kidnapped in Gaza but never says who kidnapped him. Apparently its not politically correct for the BBC to report the facts of the case. Similarly, their on-line petition to support Mr. Johnston, who is their own employee, never says who kidnapped him or is holding him or who should let him go. I signed the petition (along with 70,000 other people), but I think its cowardly of the BBC not to say who we are all are petitioning. Why not have the nads to petition the Palestinian group who are actually holding him???

Blimey, so you think a non commercial broadcaster is more biased than a commercial one??

The bbc has gone rather bad since the big fall out with the government over Iraq and David Kelly and the fact that the gov. is just an instrument of lies.

However, I won't defend the bbc 100%, of course they have their agenda. Sheesh, wasn't expecting that.

Its just a lecture that the bbc has broadcast, thats all.

You don't have to listen.

I enjoy listening to the BBC on NPR but if I had to choose between the two I'd choose NPR.
