Anybody notice how brite the sun is today?

Unread postby SD_Scott » Mon 16 Apr 2007, 14:22:40

Talked to several people here in Missouri today and all of them seem to think the sun is extra brite today. I wonder if the flight cancellations out east have anything to do with it. I see very few if any flights overhead and zero contrails. Usually I see contrails almost constantly. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but it seems really brite.

Its not contrails, its due to the very cool and turbulent canadian air, on the backside of the large storm on the east coast, making visibilities the best they have been in a while. Makes it seem like the sun is really bright. Also the sun angle is changing, higher in the sky at zenith so as we moves towards the summer solstice its going to "seem" that way to some.

The weather report stated that we had a big high pressure system in the area. Is the flight traffic across the US low right now?

This website has the best data on solar flares, changes in insolation, and other data on how "brite" the sun is on any given day

Doubtful SD, traffic may be very slightly less, but the reality is that at high altitude the conditions may just not be favorable for contrail formation, thats all. There are delays in the NE but not significant enough to cause what your seeing.

You just dont get contrails all the time.

The brightness is increaseing and it is the real reason for global warming. Pol's use it as an excuse to geld peak oil in which they are too pusillanimous to expatiate. It probably was a nice clear day to appear obvious to you. It will soon be more noticeable. There is a change in the nuclear generation chain releasing differing particles and energy rates combined with magnetodynamic forces acting much like a light dimmer. This dimmer system is at the present full off at the top of an 11 year cycle. But this is all too mordant. On a more positive note, Ozone is decreasing.
