The declared rational of modern political correctness is to protect people from being offended by what others might say about them; i.e. to compel everyone to avoid using words that may upset homosexuals, women, non-whites, the crippled, the stupid, the fat, the ugly, or members of any other group who find particular words or statements insulting or offensive.

Don Imus made a racist and sexist statement.

Then he apologized.

That wasn't enough to satisfy people who were upset by his non-PC statements. They continued to apply pressure until Imus was fired.

I imagine Imus will be replaced by someone who will never ever never never uh uh no no never ever make a single non-PC racist or sexist statement.

You guys don't get it, Imus getting fired was a badge of honor. Howard Stern was fired from one job after another until he found a venue where he could be free. Imus will be on Sirius or XM next.

Well, we can tell the truth, but we might lose our jobs or get banned from a message board.

But this brings up an interesting point -- why are certain points of view EXTREMELY RESTRICTED from the MSM? Of course, the MSM is becoming less and less relevant, because information wants to be free.

Do a google on "Who Rules America" and you might find your answer. By the way, Imus was a tool whose job was to divert the masses from the REAL TRUTH. He was a diluted drink. I take my commentary straight up. My favorite podcast radio host says, "There is no *** between me and you." Maybe you can guess what *** is.

Blacks have to address rap artists, entertainers like Whoopi Goldberg, and how they address each other. It's the ultimate hip-hop-racy.

The MSM and the people who were so upset with Imus don't boycott black commedians and rap artists who call each other the N-word and call women "ho" and such, so its OK.

Don Imus was not fired because he made racist comments.

He was fired because the companies that normally sponsored his program every day decided to send their advertisement dollars elsewhere thanks to pressure from people like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Granted, Jackson only pressured the sponsors because Don Imus made a dumb comment, but CBS itself doesn't care about racism.

CBS cares about money and Imus allowed his show to become unprofitable. Ergo, his show got canceled.

The key word is "was".

He stopped being profitable after he made a stupid comment that caused advertisers to get spooked and leave him in droves.

Given enough time, Jesse Jackson and his special interest group would have successfully scared every sponsor away from Imus's show.

Regardless, he'll be great on satellite radio, uncensored.

The Imus firing shows how great the power of "political correctness" is over public speech in the U.S.

Imus didn't DO anything racist....he just SAID something racist. And then he apologized.

Nonetheless, he was fired just for saying something that wasn't PC.

Don Imus is in trouble for speaking like a black person and as we all know there is nothing more vulgar than black slang. At least, that is the message that I got.
