$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('JasonHam', 'W')ell, it seems people are already assuming peak has happened. I'm a skeptic to everything by nature. But the more I read, the more I understand, the more people I talk too, the more I'm really starting to believe that peak is here. NOW!

Gas prices are up and they are predicting 3/4 dollars a gallon this summer. And the world is definalety preparing for War.

I'm not an anarchist, I dont like to see people starve to death or kill each other over food an water. I dont like to see young men/women die in wars. But, there is something in me that wants this to happen. I cant stand the way of life we live now.

Corporate greed, a Politically Correct fake environment, Lying assholes ripping me off every turn I make; I cant pass wind without the proper papers or tags. I sit in a car for 2 hours a day picking my nose only to come home to bills, bills bills and more bills. Dont get me started on "Generica". And the ineqaulity of money in this country is unbelievable. One guy has a mansion in every vacation spot in america/world and 40 million americans dont have health care. WTF???????????/ It makes me so ANGRY. So, what I'm saying is, I kinda want it to happen. Change is difficult.

Quit your bitching. You haven't seen anything yet.

When the Blackwater contractors kick down your door in a warrantless, no-knock raid and then proceed to forcibly jam the Raytheon produced RFID command and control chip up your ass before they haul you off to a Halliburton built work camp where you will pay off you debts to society by working at a Wal Mart sponsored, faith based debt forgiveness program where Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson talks on "values" are piped into your cell where you subsist on a diet of Monsanto produced genetically modfied corn laced with Prozac, you're going to look back at all this as the "good ole' days."

Nice Prediction Matt!

Is that your fear or secret desire?
I mean, This way we could text and ringtone each others assholes!

"your humps, your humps, your lovely lady humps"

I hear Ruppert has this effect on otherwise mild mannered peak oil lawyers :)

Yeah Newbie ! STFU ! Who do you think you are preaching to punk?!!? 8)

Hmmm I look at peak several ways.

EROEI - the mid point of all oil - the highest point of production - the highest point of production using a hubbert curve and Energy Density.

Using EROEI alone it would seem that we peaked many years ago.
Using the midpoint of all "conventional" oil then we have probably peaked yet this will never be known as we would have to essentially get all the oil to know and we will never get it all.
Using the highest point in production then it looks like we may have peaked in 2006 yet only time will tell.
Using the Hubbert curve with a smooth bell shaped peak curve is just like the above method but this method would probably result in a slightly different peak date.
Energy Density is how we say it? a motherfucker
and is closely tied to EROEI when comparing SLC to other types of oil and hydrocarbon energy sources in general yet for some reason I want to believe it is a category unto itself.
And by my novice calculations we have also passed Peak Energy density as far as conventional oil is concerned.
The best of course is Sweet Light Crude and we are getting less and less of this and we have what remaining? thus Peak density was passed long ago.

Hubbert nailed it and he is our pessimist?

Show me a pessimist and I will show you a realist.

Newbie - watch these:

Sorry to be the one..... today......

Maybe because TPTB "THE POWERS THAT BE" use scare tactics so "we" do not wish to be as those we hate.......

Watch the videos - thank me later :)

thanks for support guys. I was simply venting about the modern way life and how corporate america is driving me nuts.

anyway, I do beleive that peaK oil is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. But , you guys have shown yourselfs to be somewhat over the top in your views. Some might call you QUACKS!!! This is why people quicky dismiss peakers and the whole issue. Your ideas and thoughts are just so far OUT THERE!!!

Hi.
To the one asking the question at the top of the thread, light sweet crude most likely has peaked within the last couple of years.
Due to increasing production of heavy oil etc, the all fossil fuel liquids peak is still a little ways out. However, in all likelihood this peak will occur by 2015. If one adds in tar sands, natural gas condensates, coal to liquids, one can interpret an all fossil fuels that are convertible to liquids peak occuring a little later. Expect what we will see in the media etc is a continuing reinterpretation of what constitutes peak production with a gradually receding date being the desired result of such reinterpretation. Eventually, they will be talking about biofuels as constituting part of oil production.
By continually changing the definition of what constitutes oil production the facts of the issue will continually be clouded and disguised. Expect such misdirection and confusion creation to be an effective modus operandi. However, in conclusion, will reiterate
light sweet crude extraction has most likely peaked between 2004 and 2006, and the maximum production of all fossil fuel liquids will occur within 8 years, and most likely on the order of 2010 to 2012.
Remember seeing some graphs of likely production, and will repost those here within a week or two, perhaps.

Lates.

I saw Prof. Deffeyes speak in late 2005, just after he had just predicted peak oil was reached about Thanksgiving 2005.

Oil prices shot up the next summer, just as he predicted.

The Wall Street Journal just reported that Mexico's largest field has gone into steep decline, dropping 20% in about 2 years. The WSJ also noted that almost all of the mega-giant oilfields around the world were 30-50 years old, and might go into decline in the next few years.

I think Deffeyes might have nailed it, and we are just past the overall peak in oil production.

This poetically sums up my feelings about PO & NOW.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'Y')eah, c'mon

When the music's over
When the music's over, yeah
When the music's over
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights, yeah

When the music's over
When the music's over
When the music's over
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights

For the music is your special friend
Dance on fire as it intends
Music is your only friend
Until the end
Until the end
Until the end

Cancel my subscription to the Resurrection
Send my credentials to the House of Detention
I got some friends inside

The face in the mirror won't stop
The girl in the window won't drop
A feast of friends
"Alive!" she cried
Waitin' for me
Outside!

Before I sink
Into the big sleep
I want to hear
I want to hear
The scream of the butterfly

Come back, baby
Back into my arm
We're gettin' tired of hangin' around
Waitin' around with our heads to the ground

I hear a very gentle sound
Very near yet very far
Very soft, yeah, very clear
Come today, come today

What have they done to the earth?
What have they done to our fair sister?
Ravaged and plundered and ripped her and bit her
Stuck her with knives in the side of the dawn
And tied her with fences and dragged her down

I hear a very gentle sound
With your ear down to the ground
We want the world and we want it...
We want the world and we want it...
Now
Now?
Now!

Persian night, babe
See the light, babe
Save us!
Jesus!
Save us!

So when the music's over
When the music's over, yeah
When the music's over
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights
Turn out the lights

Well the music is your special friend
Dance on fire as it intends
Music is your only friend
Until the end
Until the end
Until the end!
