$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')ar. 12: Is the recent run-up in pump prices the result of price gouging

etc.

Media is doing what it does best. Giving us a constant stream of great economics news, even if the reality is far far away :p

This article makes no sense. They say this is trader driven, but yet they show evidence of a huge drop in inventories and lack of imports. If they have dug deeper, they will realize imports are down due to other regions outside of US commanding higher prices for gasoline than historical prices. The price difference between US and Northern Europe narrow.

If this is not market driven, then might as well say everything is dictated by traders. What a bunch of bologne.

Well, they claim the spike will be short-lived, but the trend line is up.

Notice that the national average price has moved from about $1.00 in 2002 to about $2.25 this winter. The use of ethanol still leads to oil depletion too, but at a lower rate than using pure gasoline, right?

How can an energy source so dependent on a fossil fuel source for its manufacture, lead to a lower rate of usage of said fossil fuel?

Ethanol is the biggest scam going and I SOOOO wish I had had money to invest in this Sham industry.

While other MSN is saying relief? Maybe, maybe not, though Higher Prices are certain...
The case for $3 gas
Some experts say high demand could push pump prices past last year's highs. Others say relief is in sight.

I think theres a very good chance it will be between $3.50-$4.00 US average per gallon by the end of summer... $3.00 will probably become the new low for next winter...

Corn ethanol is a scam, but because much of the energy used in it’s manufacture is derived from natural gas or coal it can honestly be said that it does (ever so slightly) decrease our oil imports…
