$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('peaker_2005', 'M')usic lessons are actually a really good idea. At worst, you have a way to entertain yourself (I myself plan on getting an acoustic guitar at some point).

At best, you have a way to at least earn some income.

Not a bad investment, really.

I'm actually planning on a career as a street musician - no shit.

Hmm...

I'd say learn to brew beer or operate a still. Alcohol is always in demand, even moreso when times get rough.

I've been thinking lately that another good skill to learn would be traditional methods of food preservation, particularly lacto-fermentation. Even if lots of people start planting gardens, I suspect that many would neglect to give much thought to preserving the harvest abundance for the lean months. Sounds silly maybe, but I've known more than a few people who wound up tossing maybe 80% of their harvest on the compost heap because they "didn't know what to do with it all". Might be a valuable service one could offer...

Given the diets of preservatives and caffiene, how are many people going to be able to adjust to lifestyle. I know when I don't have my Camel's or my Mountain Dew I feel like shit. I freely admit I am a lazy worthless american, but I am not a sheep. I am personally hoping to get another good 10 years.. saving every dime I make and then I am going to buy a piece of land out in the country up home and live off the land. I just hope for my sake that I get another 10 - 12 years.

I think for the time being it is better to be a slave and take care of what you need for now. I don't worry to much about what is going to happen and to me it doesn't matter. I always look out for number 1 and that is what I always plan to do.

I am just wish I didn't have to take on debt to get this fucking degree. That will only do me any good for about 7 - 9 years.

Well, I have about $2500 to pay off, should have that knocked out by next year if not sooner. This is all the debt I have and the only reason I have it is because someone got into trouble and I bailed them out.

I miss being debt free but Ill be there again. I choose to pay my bills off because it's the right thing to do in the Lord Jesu's sight.

Raph this is yet another reason I love Mexicans - they are used to pay-as-you-go, cash on the barrelhead, if you don't have it, don't spend it, etc. Thus, just incredible honesty and square-shooting in financial deals - they'll agree on a price at the swapmeet then bang there's the cash, no mind games, just very honest.

The poor bastards who move here...... America just destroys people financially, and more importantly it eats their souls.

In all soberness, we in America live in an Artificial world called the United States. If only people would look to the news sources outside our borders they would know what Im talking about.

As for Mexicans, I dont know. So much confusion going on now, it's hard to discern whats truth and whats not. All I can do is rely on Jesu.
