so called"tight holes" drilled in 80's

Near Sanderson in terrell County Texas the move is finally on......begun by the majors it seems to finally lease a huge parcel near Sanderson. This land is immediately adjacent to the huge 300 plus land acreage owned by the owner of the marvelously successful Riata energy, Malone Mitchell. Reports of initial offers of 100 dollars plus per acre show that the majors must be making up for lost time. Of course the smaller drilling companies will soon realize the this is most likely due to some tight holes drilled by exxon and others(mobil) during the 80's which tool pushers said hit multiple oil and gas stratas....in the same hot area...Riata's ownership said it is at least the same shale formation that they hit gas in a little northward. Perhaps this explains the interest. This writer has never heard(to date) of such a huge lease offer in wildcat country> I guess the also had the well logs and the new 3d tech stuff to be able to make such an offer. (initially) And we are talking of thousands of acres. Just wait till others realize this strata is so deep and also the same shale that Chesapeak paid much much more for near marfa. Guess chesapeak didnt get thir hands on those old logs like huint and conoco did. Too bad...
Fort Stockton which also explains why their land

The final rush to suck the crap off the sides of the cup. I don't see how this affects anything really. The US is in an un-reversable decline. This doesn't change that.

For me nothing less than the announcement of another Ghawar or two(now) can even begin to calm my doomer fears. Even then all it means Is I might have another year or two, then we are back into the same boat.

At some point soon it seems to me TSWHTF.

Yup and that 1 or 2 Ghawars you mentioned better not be located 30,000 feet below the surface of the sea.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Eli', 'Y')up and that 1 or 2 Ghawars you mentioned better not be located 30,000 feet below the surface of the sea.

It does look like most of the deep oil is years away from being produced, and the way the oil price goes up and down I wonder if ever.

It seems every day we are getting more and more bad news, Aspo's 2010 date may be the geologically correct date for peak oil of all liquids, but it looks an awfully long way off from here, I have doubts we'll make it that far before a real crises.
