Unread postby mattduke » Mon 26 Feb 2007, 01:07:23

I would appreciate any and all information folks familiar with the Washington DC area would like to share in terms of likely scenarios. Thank you.

Your request is kind of vague. Are you planning a trip to see the cherry blossoms on the potomac this spring or what?

If you are talking about urban planning

this guy has a good blog going on that

If you're talking about TEOTWAWKI planning then I'm not sure there is any 'likely' scenario.

Although, two things I would pay more attention to is food supply and heavy goods shipments by rail and water. Does DC have ports (Alexandria, Navy Yard etc) that could be reactivated for cargo if needed?

There are about 6 bridges from DC over to Virginia in this area and as a Virginian I would say that we probably should monitor the situation but be ready to pull those bridges depending on how things go in DC.

Randomly, if you want a good resource on the DC Punk/Hardcore scene see

My opinion is that DC is the last place the Gov will let melt down or the first they will allow to be nuked. It's a toss up.
