Bush: Like a rock, only dumber

What's on your mind?
General interest discussions, not necessarily related to depletion.

Of course. voting for Bush makes life easier.

First off the threat of Al-qaeda is grossly overstated. Do you really believe a man who lives in a cave can co-ordinate a global network of terror?

yes 9/11 was bad but the more I learn about it the more I think it was a set up to push the neocon agenda.

Why does it take so long for jets to respond to hijackings of commercial airliners when they are up in the sky immediately when private jets have problems. See the Payne Stewart incident for example. (First few paragraphs of link)

http://www.the7thfire.com/9-11/Pastore_ ... _cover.htm

You now have a bunch of neoconservative thinkers running the government who have put into place legislation such as the Patriot Act which seriously undermines the Constitution.

We're being told to believe that first of all the intelligence agencies got it wrong with 9/11 and then whoops!! they got it wrong again with the WMD in the War on Iraq.

Does this sound rational to you given the millions of dollars that fund the CIA and the NSA?

BUSH IS AN INCOMPETENT MORON WHO IS ONLY IN POWER BECAUSE HE HAS DONE A GREAT JOB OF SCARING THE SHIT OUT OF MILLIONS OF AMERICANS.

We did have millions protest the war. Bush obviously doesn't give a rats ass about what people think. The main reason people don't protest all the time. Take your pick: apathy, dumbing down, fear.

If you're going to be so naive as to vote for a dumb, born again Christian who thinks he doing gods will then you need your head examing.

Then again maybe you didn't vote for bush and are just trying to get a rise out of people.

You forget, we're dealing with the typical self centered mindless American public.
Dont send troops to war
Dont secure vital natural resources
Dont raise gas prices
Dont make me give up my SUV

Gee people, cant have it both ways. Thats what chaps my ass the most, these bitch asses that complain about going to war and drive SUV's. Its like Hello, McFly.......

Not to toot my own horn, but I have a RIGHT to bitch about going to war as I now own a Jetta TDI getting 40+ miles to the gallon. (And I'm sure I'm not the only one on this board who can rightly say "No war for oil"). But the people who want their cake and eat it to, they piss me off to no end.

I drive a GeoMetro, 3 cylinders. Lawnmoyers take more gas than that car!

I believe we are dead wrong for going to Iraq and waging war for ressources. It'll bite us in the ass in the end.

I'm not inclined to entirely disagree with you. But the fact is the "American Public" is supporting a war for oil regardless of what they say. The next time someone says we shouldnt be fighting for oil, ask them what they drive? How big of house do they have? Is it energy efficient? Do they have solar panels? 99% of the people you ask will have big homes and big cars. Whats that tell you? They pay lip service to no war, but their actions speak otherwise.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ailrickson', '
')There is enough cheap oil to keep the world afloat in its prosperity for a good 10 years.

Ruppert gave a speech (I think it was at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco) detailing the the new oil developement projects coming online versus depletion. He puts the end of cheap oil at the end of '08. One of the other mainstream analysts puts peak in late '05. 10 years a bit optimistic, Ail, but then your such a friggin' shithead. :-D

I think the election just shows that the dumb Americans outnumber the smart ones by about 3 million people. You can't fool all the people all the time, but Karl Rove can fool 59 million voters all of the time, and that's what it took to win.

Ironic, because I always thought people who were traitors to this country, who lied and cheated and had no plan and the people who supported him were the dumb ones. I always thought people who would sell this country out were the dumb ones, who wouldnt stand up for America and would roll over and play lapdog to terrorists and the UN were the dumb ones. I always thought someone who had a plan, who was a man of action, who had principles and a spine were the smart ones.
Guess its easy to criticize the ones on the other side isnt it.

Oh I see you bought the BS mischaracterization of Kerry too. sheeesh.

well...I drive a '76 f150. Not exactly an SUV, but not real fuel efficient either. The US has been at war with Iraq for what...13 years? I've probably been bitching for a good 5 of those years.

But see the thing is....I like peak oil. I think $15 per gallon gas is a good idea. I'm just doing my part to aid depletion. :-D
I figure the sooner the oil is all gone the better. Then we can quit trying to pave the entire planet and move on to living on it.

I suspect, in all fairness, we'll be doing some of each. Some will live. Some will die. Ultimately, we have no choice but to become sustainable. That's the definition of sustainable...you can keep doing it indefinitely. I figure the sooner we get to that point the better. Heaven knows we're not going to do it without a serious kick in the tush from reality, so bring on the peak! [smilie=headbang.gif]

If the forgoing is any index of our preparedness for the Peak Oil Event then we will be in for an interesting ride.

It would be too boring to make preparations - convert our agriculture to organic, low to no input systems, phase out private motor vehicles and improve public transport and rail freight systems so we have the fuel to do it.

If we abandoned the simplistic growth economics and re-embraced Keynsian theories that allow Governments to implement policies without out the need for growth to cover up the leakages; we could minimalize the consequences of industrial realignment to supplying needs within the context of the natural systems.

It is all possible but will not happen due to the simplistic drivel that passes for news and analysis.

We are e-morons and nothing can save us, cept if it can do it in 15 seconds!

I advise all to do MEEK 101, 201 etc. for indeed they shall inherit the earth.
