$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('seahorse2', 'I') agree with Zardoz that this very blunt speech marks a watershed event in history - where we all go from here, who knows, but it definitely shows we've reached the edge of Russian tolerance for the US "war on terror" precipitated by 9-11.
Or may be the other way around? May be Russia reached the edge and unable to get more then a position of a mere NG supplier to Europe and rouge regime arms dealer?
Russian news that covers the speech in more details compare this to Nikita Khrushev UN speech that involved a shoe... Everybody pissed their pants back then, right? I haven't been born yet, but my daddy recollection of this time is that he had to get up 6 in the morning and get in line to get some bread by noon, because apart from showing his shoe to UN, being a farmer Nikita loved corn... So he mandated that the corn to be planted everywhere - there were plenty of corn, but no bread... So did Nikita Khrushev showed his strength or was he desperate because of weaknesses? What about Mr. Putin?
