And right now the political winds are firmly against deportation. Heck, if you look at the last years push for regularization, which I was against, they were proposing a mass increase in immigration. If let's say there are a million illegal crossers each year, Congress answer was okay, lets increase the legal limits to five million per year. 30 million in under a decade!

How's that for intelligent planning?

As long as we have corporations dictating our labor policy, labor enforcement and labor legislation we will NEVER see an end to mass immigration. It's simply too profitable for big business and even many smaller ones. The INS or whatever they became doesnt dare do a round up in the central valley of CA, lest they offend Big Ag. Its no surprise we see millions coming here as a result. US policy is welcoming one.

A wall will do squat if labor laws are not enforced.
Mass deportation wont work well either if there is a reason to return.

It would be really easy to stop people from coming to the west, airports can be easilly controlled and land borders can be controlled if enough resources are invested. But sttoping them from coming is way different from deporting those who are already here.

My guess is that, at most, they will shut down borders at some point, nothing else. And that leaves the west with millions of immigrants. For those that want no trouble I think they'll be more or less assimilated, the rest will become a pain in the ass. All that, among other things, will of course increase poverty.

As long as they do not affect the lifestyle of those in power nothing serious will be done about them. People will be poor, mad and scared. So what? As long as fat, rich and racist is not mad, poor and scared nothing will be done.

Also the chances of using the immigration problem as an excuse to enforce a police state and cut off all freedoms are great. We are screwed, that's all.
