I was at my colleges Library site looking up books on peakoil, and noticed that all of the books related to peakoil are no longer listed. Last semster there was 9 different peakoil related books. That is freaking weird. Stupid Public Colleges

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'I')f all the corn produced in America in 2005 were dedicated to ethanol production…it would have reduced U.S. demand for gasoline by, at most, 12 percent.” So, to reach Bush’s 20 percent goal, corn production must grow to 167 percent of its 2005 levels, and every kernel must go into ethanol. Kiss your corn pudding goodbye.

the news is all too much, that's all. the situation is more that a lot of people can handle. The same old Easter Island thing that won't go away. Collective delusion is the only course apparently.

Yep. That's why my peak oil speech now always starts with: "There's plenty of oil. It's just going to be a lot more expensive."

Then I begin to explain the difference between a gusher and the equivalent tar-sands production facility. all the while I am saying "There's plenty of oil but this is what it's going to take to get it delivered..."

Usually by the end of the conversation I have shot down hydrogen and ethanol without ever having once said "we are in trouble." I can watch the concern grow on their faces though.

Yesterday I had a couple sales guys take me to lunch. They made a nice captive audience. Poor slops didn't know what hit 'em!
heh
poor bastards...
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

About six months ago, I tried to get "The Party's Over" and "Twilight in the Desert" from my local library, and they were both booked by so many people that I gave up; apparently, these books are in demand here, in oil country.

Recently, one of my kids' teachers lent me a couple of good books - we got talking about world issues and he said, "I've got something you'd probably like to read". He's got a bit of a library himself.

Why not ask the library manager where they've gone and why, and ask them to bring them back again. I'd be interested to know what they say about it.
