Bush: Like a rock, only dumber

Unread postby GreenMan » Wed 15 Dec 2004, 22:32:28

Some memorable quotes from Bush:
"If this were a dictatorship, it would be a lot easier, but only if I were the dictator."

"Rarely is the question asked: is our children learning?"

"This is a pressy crowd: the haves, and the have mores. Some call you the elite, I call you my base."

"We thought we were protected forever from trade policy or terrorist attacks because the oceans protected us."

"After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it very plain that we will not have an all-volunteer army. And yet, this week- we will have an all-volunteer army!"

"The truth of the matter is, if you would listen carefully, Saddam would still be in power if he were the President of the United States, and the world would be a lot better off."

"I own a timber company? That's news to me. Need some wood?"

"I'm not an expert on the way the Iraqi people think, because I live in America, where it's nice and safe and secure."

Scared yet?

Well the men behind the curtain chose Dubya because he was stupid enough to appeal to the rabble.

I'd feel quite insulted if I was a rock. Unlike Presidents, they actually have multiple uses.

Be careful to not underestimate your opposition, or they might surprise you, and you won't like the outcome.

I think the guy has a lot more smarts than he's given credit for, and the verbal dyslexia is not the same thing as stupidity (speaking as someone who's somewhat dyslexic myself).

Bush has an MBA degree with a specialization in organizational development. He definitely has a skill for putting together his cabinet and staff with smart and experienced people.

He also has a strong capacity for empathy one-on-one, and his language is much more emotive than it is cognitive. He speaks from the heart, and if you look closely you will find he uses "tactile/kinaesthetic" language far more than is typical in our culture, especially for people in public office.

He's also congruent; by which I mean he's sincere and his nonverbal communication is consistent.

And he is a true idealist, in the sense of being someone who is committed to ideals in the same way that Jimmy Carter is and Ronald Reagan was during his own lifetime.

I often see liberals making the mistake of trying to pooh-pooh or otherwise treat as "less then themselves," those who they oppose. This one is stupid, that one is a dupe, the other one is a wannabe. All of those characterizations are "diminutive," i.e. they attempt to diminish. In doing so, they imply a kind of self-superiority. And that, folks, is the best way I know of to lose arguements, elections, legal cases, market competition, etc. etc. etc.

Bush has no empathy, for someone that mocked a woman pleading for her life after being sentenced to the death penalty. Besides, he is completely alright with sending thousands of people, not including civilians to their bloody deaths and lifelong cripplings. (for oil) He has no humanity whatsoever.

Just because Bush has a degree, doesn't mean anything. Just take me for instance, if I get the BA degree for Mass Communications, just how qualified am I going to be? All I'm going to know about is punk rock, long dead literary authors, jazz music and obscure details of American government. Oh yeah, and communication theories that have no use in an active working environment. Shall I direct that national news cast now?

Besides, Bush has connections, he probably had to do barely any work to earn it.

A true idealist, is not a good thing. Osama Bin Laden and Adolf Hitler are two people that come to mind who are (or were) true idealists. Idealism is the stuff of islamic fundamentalism and terrorism. Its what organizations like Al-Qaeda uses to justify their actions.

People who are heavily based in their ideals, tend to want them to come out on top, ignoring the desires of others. If Bush could turn this country into a theocracy, not unlike Afghanistan under the Taliban, I think he would.
Vision without action is a dream, action without vision is a nightmare.

Oh, I have a perfect understanding of what the military is for:

They are the security guards for big business.

It's for killing and maiming many more Iraqis than ever were killed and maimed over a similar period of time under SH, not to mention the 1000++ killed of "coalition" troops killed and 10,000++ seriously wounded, of which half will be permanently disabled in one way or another.

It's also for treating Iraqi and Afghanistani prisoners inhumanely and defying all international conventions on human rights.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dubya, as well as Rumsfeld etc., are war criminals, as guilty of crimes against humanity, totally on a par with Slobberguts Milosevic, who was the political chief of an army that committed similar crimes. Perhaps Carla del Ponte should consider their indictment!

Being able to buy an MBA does not equate with intelligence. I've known PhDs who were remarkably unintelligent. Knowledge and intelligence are not two sides of the same equation and it only requires knowledge to obtain a degree, assuming you are too poor to buy one. If you want further living proof of this, look at Prince Charles.

I think the election just shows that the dumb Americans outnumber the smart ones by about 3 million people. You can't fool all the people all the time, but Karl Rove can fool 59 million voters all of the time, and that's what it took to win.

Ironic, because I always thought people who were traitors to this country, who lied and cheated and had no plan and the people who supported him were the dumb ones. I always thought people who would sell this country out were the dumb ones, who wouldnt stand up for America and would roll over and play lapdog to terrorists and the UN were the dumb ones. I always thought someone who had a plan, who was a man of action, who had principles and a spine were the smart ones.
Guess its easy to criticize the ones on the other side isnt it.

I'm glad that you are willing to further the demonstration begun by Ailrickson for our foreign members, SpecOp, who may be less familiar with American "values."
Your witty and intellectual banter *does* almost bring a tear to my eye. ;)
Much appreciated.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ailrickson', '
')You lost to us pretty boy! Gloathing rigths to the republicans - ok!

The time to debate the election is passed. AFTER an election is the time to come together, below the newly elected goverment, and work to make this nation great. OK?! How's that?

More ignorance of history and politics. After Clinton won, the Republicans went into attack mode. No coming together. No supporting the nation by supporting the president. Ail is spouting more ignorant propaganda.

The job of a minority party, which the Democrats are right now, is to block the majority, when appropriate. Plain and simple. It's what the minority Republicans did for years.

Those who supported Bush have very short memories. We need to remind them of these things.

You guys talk about rolling over and giving in to terrorists, the U. N., whatever. Now you want those of us who disagree with the president to roll over and give in because the election is over.
I believe that as a country we have to fight evil inside and outside of our borders.
The election doesn't change the fact that I disagree with the president on these issues:
1) economic policy (deficits, deficits, and more deficits! tax cuts for all, especially the rich. dividends are taxed less than income)
2) foreign policy (no wmd's. c'mon, just tell us why we're really over there. we're adults and we can handle the truth)
3) energy policy (how about putting the spotlight on peak oil? how about standing up against the tax deductions for SUV-buyers?)
4) homeland security (for the hundreds of billions spent defending our country every year, you'd think we could have secure borders.)

The election is over, but these issues remain. In fact, the election only makes my will stronger to get the facts out to people regarding these issues, and why our president is dead wrong on all of them.

Who gives a shit whether it's Bush or Kerry you vote for. They're all part of the "east coast elite"- the US version of the royal family. A bunch of rich pricks who can afford to pay shitloads of money for advertising in order to convince dumbasses that they would make a great president and that there are only two choices when it comes to political parties. Republican (corrupt) or Democrat (Corrupt Lite)

Sad to say, but we've got a PR president. No substance. Just positioning for political gain. Look at the farce called an economic summit. The farce of "fixing" social security when the thing that is broken is medicare--and what did they do?--oh yeah, made medicare worse through the prescription drug program.

The train is rolling along, the tracks are twisted up ahead, and all our administration cares about is PR.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Ailrickson', '
')There it is, blunt, honest, and reality. When the shit hits the fan, you will ALL be happy Bushco performed their duty and kicked ass in Iraq. Actually, I think WE CANNOT stop there. Venezuella and Canada are just a little off in the distance. WE HAVE TO DO WHAT WE HAVE TO DO TO SURVIVE, AND MAKE SURE OUR CHILDREN SURVIVE. ANd that is done with war or has history shown NOTHING to you limp wristed democrates!

No two ways about it. Ail is a Zombie for Bush. He's eating all the shit that BushCo shovels and is now trying to stuff into our mouths the digested talking points that he's passing through the other end.

So sad to see a human mind going to such waste.

Ailrickson,

Feel better know you have ranted. I feel you may have a slanted view of the world. What’s the long term return on being the world bully and stealing everyone’s lunch money (oil)?

Answer: Eventually everyone gangs up on you and kicks the $hit out of you. [smilie=new_bluegrab.gif]

I tell you it's elementary!
