the effects of peak oil on music

One thing I'm not sure anyone has touched on yet on this forum. What will become of music post peak? in particular if there is a fast decline and things hit the fan a bit faster than civilization was ready to handle. Imagine all the good musical content-lost-(I don't know if I could live without Dylan Walsh, Eagles Doors Mozart etc). the music industry has become very much digital media, and what do those media players run on? electricity! now assuming the bare worst, who/how will this information be retained post peak? One of the most fundamental things to the human collective conscious has been music, so it will be interesting to see how music plays out post peak.

Remember Banjo Boy ?

It will be like that until the next Mozart is born, then Mile Davis etc etc.

Good question? Let me know if you find an MP3 player that'll last me the next 50 years (the best I've found is one from Panasonic that gets 80 hours on one AA battery but I doubt it would last more than ten).

Vinyl records will last quite a while, but not forever. You can use a direct-drive turntable without a power grid, an iPod jack, memory cards, or cellphone chargers. A bicycle and an old car alternator will suffice.
