What's on your mind?

Who is America's "Best" ally?

Unread postby east2west » Thu 01 Feb 2007, 01:50:15

Notice I said "best". I don't mean necessarily who we have the best diplomatic relations with, but which ally do we receive the most tangible benefits from?

I'm curious to see what you guys think.

China and Japan i think lend USA a huge amount of money. Saudi Arabia has a lot of money invested in the US economy.

In the end it will be the Chinese who will be the US's best supporters if it all goes pear shaped vis a vis the ME, or if, God forbid, real war breaks out.

Come'on folks, it's Canada. They supply us with a ton of resources, speak the same language (Quebec excepting), similar culture and shared history (again, Quebec excepting) and pose us no threat. While they may not politically agree with us, our overwhelming size and power makes it impossible for them to disagree with us.

Okay, maybe this isnt an equitable relationship, but when you've shot your international "goodwill" like we have, fear and intimidation make for semi suitable replacements.

Ditto.

Canada and Mexico shouldn't be options as "best ally". An Ally is a partner. Canada and Mexico are the USA's best bitches. They hardly even complain anymore.

You need Mexico for your slave labour and Canada is always here to remind you that you have your head up your ass.

Truth be told the USA is Israel's bitch.

China will go to war for the US when nobody else will. Their interests re: PO are now the US's. Anything happens in the ME of too extreme a nature (WWIII) and the Chinese, Indians, SE Asians and Japanese will take the overland route to kick some ass and take some names. Those Aussie pussiewimps will seek isolation once they see how bad things really are. Best you can expect from the Aussies is to keep the Straits of Mallaca open, maybe. They will have their hands full with all of the Indonesians that will be seeking asylum, millions of them.
