Could your wife do this?

Huh? How about it, guys? If a mountain lion had your head in its mouth, how would your wife handle the situation?

What a gal!

Did he marry the right girl or what? We should all be so lucky.

This is as close as I want to get to them! (I took this in Arizona.)

I can honestly say no, my wife wouldn't do this for me. But I don't have a wife.

The woman did what needed to be done, but looks like the "wardens" took revenge on the first mountain lion family they came across. Typical response by "dominionists" (see Genesis). As far as I'm concerned, if people aren't willing to take some risks when they hang out in the woods, they shouldn't be out there in the first place. I think it's complete bullshit to expect the state to kill every potentially dangerous animal in the woods. As far as I'm concerned, the main victims in this story are the mountain lions.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('pstarr', ' ')I carry a leatherman on my belt with the strap open. I can get the knife out and swung open in the wink of a dead cats eye. Cat wouldn't mess with me. no.

I saw that interview...the wife said she just kept hitting the cougar over and over again and was getting tired but just kept on..can you imagine how long she had to keep on going on after that big cat to get it to finally let go and leave? Yah, he sure did marry right. And for her to not panic and just be standing there screaming, or run off 'for help'...

They did say that when they got it, it was starving and looked like it hadn't eaten for weeks. Don't blame the cougar, but am glad it's dead too.

What bothers me is the fact that the rangers went to the area and killed 2 cougars. Those cougars could have had nothing to do with the attack, especially considering that only one cougar attacked the man. Not only that, but I don't think that will be a lesson for all the other cougars. It defies all logic.

Even if the cougar killed and ate a person, I don't think it should be hunted down and killed. Unless they can hunt down the cougar soon after the attack, there is no way to be sure that they are killing the right cougar. Even then, it serves no productive purpose. The cougars don't learn their lesson.

I once unknowingly walked within 7 paces of a large cougar. It was an instance of where your body reacts before you're conscious of what the threat is. The cat had its fur raised and looked as big as a Bengal tiger (at the time). We stared directly into each other's eyes--something I will never forget. I was fully aware that a crouching mountain lion can leap 25 feet in 1 bound. After a few (?) seconds I realized the cat was as startled as I was, and I was not destined to be turned into cougar turds. I simply began backing away, without breaking eye contact, until we were out of sight of each other. After waiting a minute-and remembering that it was alright to breathe again-I again approached and, of course, found the cat long gone.

That's life in the woods.

Lesson: Humans are smooth and soft with oversized brains. Don't walk around in the woods without the modern technology of firearms.
