We are born into this world helpless and alone and that's how we leave it. Hopefully we touch a few hearts along the way. C'est la vie

Don't forget pasteurization and Monet, Renior, Bizet, Descarte, and my personal favorite Paul Cezanne. This is a nation of dreamers and artists after my own soul and I say god bless the French. Nevermind the political hacks they've got there now. Were they ever any better? Besides that, who can get behind George Bush?

And how about the warm mystism of Claude Debussy or the quirky humor of Erik Satie? I will honor the French until the day I die.

Would you folks who denigrate the French please stop and consider what really matters? It's not just the French, it's the Italians and the Hungarians and the Germans and the Russians and my beloved ancestors the English who left us such treasures. I'm not talking about empire and money, because that all fades away, I'm talking about what endures which is expressions of the soul. What else really matters in the long run? Perhaps the best America has contributed is Melville and George Inness. My fear is that these things which I hold so dear will all go into the ashbin of history and we'll all be dead. I had to endure such multy culty crap to get my teaching credential and I got by barely by the skin of my teeth because I wouldn't budge in honoring my European White Male background. You wouldn't believe how nasty the ideological fever has become. Are you spending big bucks to put your kids through College? Are you paying attention at all?

We French had more soldiers when the English surrendered at Yorktown than George Washington did. We French also supplied 90 percent of the gunpowder the Revolutionary Army used during the war.

You ignore history at your own expense, my ignorant American friend.

I suggest you would be still licking hairy English balls if it wasn't for our assistance.

And thank you for the Statue of Liberty and all the other offers of friendship you've offered through the years. I do believe we paid you back on the beaches of Normandy

Back ta you. You disgrace and dishonor the graves of OUR soldiers who died freeing your country from German rule. Only to turn around and blame America for every possible thing you can imagine. And the funny thing is, we save you from the Germans so you can turn right around and be there lapdog.
I can forgive being Germanys lapdog. I cannot forgive the vandalism done to American graves.
For that, may the French eternally burn in Hell.

Because it takes alot of upkeep. If WE had built the damned thing, it'd be rock solid and not require maintenance. :-D

Very good point, PMS. :) I guess many Americans feel like they can be the only who can criticize american policy. But since the only superpower left influence the whole world, I guess it is normal everybody feels concerned about american internal policy affairs.
Maybe many americans (almost half) feel uncomfortable with G.W. Bush, but be sure that when your are not american you feel VERY uncomfortable because you can be said part of the axis of evil quite easily. The way the "old europe" is treated is a very good example.
