Peak Oiler's full of it?

Poop

Note the size and popularity of this thread. I honestly think it offers a Freudian view into the Peak Oil soul and that view might be somewhat disturbing to some people.

The question is, are Peak Oilers overly concerned about being full of Expletive deleted.?

Atleast once a day my mind will re-examine the PO "movement" from the standpoint that we are full of crap. Who am I trying to convince? Only myself surely. I no longer fear PO or any of its' consequences but what I do fear now is that I may be wrong. I fear I am throwing my life away preparing for something that may never happen. I would seriously be an outraged and broken man if in 30 years the world is running exactly as it is now only faster, stronger, bigger just as the cornucopians say.

After careful analysis it seems that if we are wrong then we will be fine but I cannot say the same for those who did not prepare if we are right.

What is life?
Does the rat race still appeal to most or is it that most simply cannot see a way out or another way?
We cant all be ebayer mega sellers 8)

Alot of us dream of some sort of financial independence and a few dream of real independence yet fewer still ever realize either.
This is because living and working in the modern world requires much of our time, energy and finances.
Its a never ending cycle that I for one no longer wish to be a part of.
I worry more about what if we are right.................
It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.

I think many of us underestimated the strength and adaptability of the system. While it is destined to fail it may last longer than some of us anticipated.

I sure hope so. I heard some caller on The Michael Medved radio show say while I was driving home from work that oil is a finite resource. Medved said, "no it isn't. it's virtually infinite. we have more reserves now than we did 30 years ago." Saved! (that wasn't just some phony accounting in the 80s that inflated reserves for political OPEC reasons, they really found more oil. We'll never run out. hooray!)

When you own a hammer, every problem looks like a nail.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.
