What's the bestest thing you got for Xmas?

Share.

Me? I bought myself a whole new set of Cuisinart cookware to replace the set I let the ex walk away with.
What will arrive first? Peak Oil or the Second Coming? My money is now on the latter.

New pair of shoes. Old ones were about 4 or 5 years old, but can still function for yard work. I just hated going to class in shoes dripping with sweat and blood.

Probably the computer I'm using right now. Frivolous waste of money for sure, but hey, it WAS a combined 21st/Christmas present, so it has every right to be frivolous.

I'm probably going to upgrade it late this year (when quad-core and the associated motherboards drop in price). Oh, and a shorter DX10 graphics card to be released.

It'll probably be my last ever computer, unless the collapse is more than about 4 or 5 years out (which IS possible).

If I DO buy another one, it'll be a laptop.

Dinner on Boxing Day.

On Christmas Day, I was really sick with a cold, confined to the couch. When my husband and kids went to the extended family's celebration, I slept.

The next day, Boxing Day, I had to go to work even though I was still quite ill. When I got home from work, my Mom had sent over pots filled with left-over turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, the works. The last thing I would have wanted to do that day, after putting in a grinding day's work and being sick and all, was cook, and my Mom knew it. She's the best!

That's not frivolous at all, as long as you use it for school and education for PO rather than watching movies and porn. Although porn does relieve tension and pressure...

If you give a man a fish you will have kept him from hunger for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

"The History of Language"

Lectures on DVD. I'll never have time to watch them, but it's a great gift.
