We intend to stay until forcibly removed. The force applied will be economic, not military.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Could this be for the Iranian nuclear sites ? I am thinking it is a good possibility.

Now that the US have learned their lesson by invading Iraq, they will hopefully be better at it this time round.

iran has them by the balls in Iraq. evidence - the apparently US-supported lynching of the president of Iraq by iranian agents.

There's absolutely nothing America can do. The U.S. will slowly fade into irrelevance.

if they think the Sunni insurgency is bad, wait till they see the full-blown Shiite insurgency.

I can promise you that before it fades into irrelevance the United Stated will probably bomb the shit out of whatever third world country you live in.

Our government may suck and our leaders are worth shit heads, but our country is great and until we self implode, this is still a far better country to live in than any other.

you can't do shit. you bombed the crap out of Iraq, and your pathetic soldiers are still getting killed there four years later.

Iran isn't scared of you, and neither is anyone else.

edit to add - i'm still not convinced you're not some kind of Nazi.

This is exactly the type of swinging-dick bluster that's going to lead to our decline. Militarily-enforced imperialism was thoroughly discredited early last century and meshes very poorly with Americas highly sucessful brand of corporate imperialism. We are not Rome, get over it.

Irans answer to naval aggression.

Twice the speed, twice the range, and twice the payload of an Exocet. This should really get our attention.

A CIWS operator I've talked to says that the Sunburn missile is called the "Aegis Killer" for good reason.

Chicken Little: our soldiers are top-notch, it's just that they are too expensive and no numerous enough. $250,000 per annum is one expensive pair of boots on the ground.

that depends on how you weigh the different aspects of living in a country, but it's a good country to live in, no doubt about that.

No army can stand toe to toe with the US. It's the occupying after that is the hard part. You cant fight people who dress as civilians and throw grenades at you then take off running. The US has fought a politically correct war by not blowing Iraq of the face of the earth.

so, Armageddon, the Iraqis should be grateful for the US not committing genocide on them? And this makes the war politically correct? I don't think so. And the US did blow the country to pieces in the initial war "btw"...

I never said they should be grateful. And if they wanted, they could clear out all their soldiers and level the place.

Believe me, I am in no way a fan of the US policy.

Hmmm.

The Iraqi insurgents are certainly giving a good imitation of it. Did we really expect them to stand clueless in the middle of the ME desert while we rained satellite guided bombs on their heads? Maybe they have studied the doctrines of assymetrical warfare and are doing an end run around all the high-tech weaponry?

The media sure were impressed by those romantic Marine snipers who were stalking and killing the supposed insurgents. But all the sniper stories stopped after the insurgents set up their own highly successful sniping operations against US troops.

I agree with DesertBear, armageddon gives the impression that those tactics have "less honor" or something along those lines. It's typical from people who only read and view conflict remotely. Whatever works, works, if you want honor go read fairy tales about the knights of the round table or something. Real war has none.

Sure America could drop the old H-bomb and kill most countries if it wanted, but then it would face it's own annihilation from other similarly equipped countries. So they can't really do that, or they lose. Putting it on the table sounds like the usual sore loser attitude "Yeah if we played the game again I'd beat you this time".

The US military destroyed the Iraqi's military in the matter of days. I am not sure what you are suggesting. Are you saying the Iraqi military and insugents won ?
The US will never leave because they are protecting their oil interests. It's a lose-lose situation.

The US could defeat any army, it's the occupying they have a problem with. It is almost impossible to occupy and control a foreign land.

I think it's safe to say they (insurgents) haven't LOST. No one has won, yet. My money is on the insurgents.

How do you define win ? By the amount of dead ? By the length of time occupying ?
