Unread postby BILL_THA_PHARMACIZT » Tue 02 Jan 2007, 16:32:07

for some reason the moderator decided to delete the last two post I posted regarding this.... if they decide to do it again I would appreciate them sending me a PM as to why.

anyway here you go its really good:

heres the homepage:

www.thesecret.tv

and here is a goodle upload of the film for free ( low quality)

http://www.thesecretstory.com/Watch_The ... _Free.html

I like this movie - its like a new millenium version of the book
"how to win friends and influence people" by dale carnegie.

very useful - even if the modererator doesn't like to see people enjoying their lives - no happy peak oil people - only misery death and destruction is allowed in this forum...

The central premis of The Secret is the Law of Attraction and that you will attract what you think about. Of course this is nonsense. Any fourth grader will tell you that OPPOSITES ATTRACT!

You will attract the opposite of what you focus on. This explains why in the US - the country that continually repeats the phrase The Land of the Free - there are a greater proportion of its people in prison THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Wake up idiot and stop dreaming.

You can hear almost the entire audio for free at 911synchronicity.com
Just listen to podcast 13. It's the last hour or so of the podcast. I hope you will then become a regular listener to Richard Andrew Grove's podcasts and will make a donation via his PayPal link. It's good stuff, all of them.

Well, the "united states" isn't anything other than a concept in your head. Like all ideological beliefs or social constructs - money religion etc etc.

Anyway, if you want to be objective about it , I agree with noam chomsky - the united states IS domestically one of the most "free" nations in the world - their are more resources, opportunities and potential than in any other country - if you fit in with the dominant culture, speak the right language and have the right skin color that is

anyway, I don't want to destroy anybodies party - I want everyone to understand how to adapt, and live a good life - and I thought this could help.

nobody cares about how bad the world is - they care about what you can do to make their lives more enjoyable -

This idea has beeen around. I first read about it in the folloowing book which is an elaboration of an essay the author wrote in 1956.

Earl Nightingale's Greatest Discovery: Six Words that Changed the Author's Life Can Ensure Success to Anyone Who Uses Them

The six words are: YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT

(Hmmm...actually, technically, that is only five words)

But then, how would you explain something like The Holocaust using "The Law of Attraction"?

Or, for that matter, the extinction of the dinosaurs? What were those BigLizzies thinking?

I can see how certain recurring thoughts can affect someone's behavior and motivation - that's basically the Power of Positive Thinking, but I don't see thoughts as linking with some etheric non-physical universe - which is what the video implies.

I get to quote myself from another tread now:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Carlhole', 'E')nergy, Matter, Space and Time (EMST)- These are the universe's physical dimensions within which all human thought and activities takes place. They are the boundaries of all human experience and knowledge. They comprise humanity's knowable realm. Thought and consciousness are impossible without EMST in our knowable realm.

Religions, whether they be mainstream Christianity, New Age Mysticism, Satanism, Occultism , Scientology or any other belief system, posit that there exists a non-physical reality independent of EMST. They posit that consciousness can be independent of EMST - existing out of nothing at all!

What's more, they posit that this non-physical reality is responsible for the creation of the universe's physical attributes and that this non-physical reality is SUPREMELY MORE IMPORTANT than the reality than humanity's knowable realm.

And they assert this without any proof whatsoever. In fact they say that there CAN be no proof. If religions or practitioners of various mysticisms could actually demonstrate the truth of their assertions they would have done so long, long ago. But it always reduces to a matter of faith and personal thoughts, thoughts that are completely dependent on the brain's EMST.

okay... I understand.

I want to add I know some of the documentary might give the impression that if you wish somthing - it will magically appear out of nowhere -

I really don't think there saying that.

What there saying is if you have somthing you want to do in life - as long as your really inspired and feeling it - and walking around with that inspiration - you will gradually begin to see things that can fufill certain pieces in your goals - and these are steps to achieving them.

and thats the creative process

but you have to "feel it"....its not good enough to intellectualise it.

also, I would like to add that these kinds of things whether there in the context of a church or self-help group or buddist temple or mosk are what keep society together when it begins to dissolve -
For me conventional religous groups just aren't sophisticated enough to deal with the way the world is now.....the general philosophy that is presented in the video may not be an answer to evertyhing but it can serve as guidlines for people like myself that are turned off or don't fit in with a church or whatever.

Dale Carnegies book "how to win friends and influence people" was a best seller during the time of the great depression.

Apparently dale carnegie wasn't and "idiot" - but im sure some people read his book and said to themselves he was.

Some of the folks here at po.com are the most "can-do" folks I've met on messageboards, certainly not sitting around doomily waiting for "the end."

They seem much more effective than some other more "positive" types of people I run across, who seem to do very little toward the future they desire.

Peak oil can really depress the good thoughts out of you.

Currently, I'm going through the "can do" spirit, only took about a year of walking around like zombie with nothing but dreadful thoughts.

Blind optimism is retarded ignorance. It is denial of objective reality and it can feel good and win people over in the short term but is a recipe for disaster in the long term.

So because the US is the land of the free it attracts people to come here and be in jail?

Opposites attract works for magnets.

Except, every time we change our mind we don't have to go through customs.

The shit-eating-grinners take some highly complex and poorly understood concepts, popularize them for the masses, and create more misery than happiness. At a time when people should be steeped in self reflection, requiring the necessary discomfort needed to change the world, they are encouraged to be vacuous smiling robots.

The spirit should surely rebel at the notion that subjective experience can easily be broken down into positive and negative. This is fundamentalism at it's worst. And if you think the fundy Christians are bad, you haven't had to deal with a family member who pays homage to this kind of nonsense.

No doubt.
Sheeple wish to define everything as either plus or minus.

Some things are neither while some things are both.
Some things are one way one moment and the other way the next.
The real problem here is that this does not apply to Oil reserves!

It is time to awaken.
It is easier to enslave a people that wish to remain free then it is to free a people who wish to remain enslaved.

you can't control "peak oil" - you can only control your outlook on life and recognise patterns in the world - and adapt and enjoy the ride. Nuclear war is more of a "threat" to human well being than "peak oil" - if I wanted to sit around worring about shit I can't control all day that would be the first on my list of priorities

If people on this site want to be destitute miserable and paranoid about everything - then let them.

people like Matt Savinar will continue to get rich off it all

Go Matt!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I am torn between Greg Palasts view and the Matt Savinar view on "peak oil" - but as time goes by I am leaning more and more to the Greg Palast view.

The older you get the more you begin to realise how much human beings infinite creativity extends not only to beauty, art and invention - but the sociopathic propaganda that has rationalised every horror we have ever known...

people are going to persue whatever they percieve to be in their own interests - and thats always changing because everything in life is in constant motion.
