$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')ccording to the September 13, 2005 issue of the LA Times, soon after Hurricane Katrina passed through the states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, beauty salons with power and water reopened. Women who had lost EVERYTHING flocked to those open beauty salons. They wanted to look good even though they did not have a place to live. They wanted and needed professional hair care.

I am speechless

It seems to me that old women go to beauty shops more frequently than younger ones.

I guess they see an increasing need to compensate for the effects of aging. It doesn't seem to work. They need to do like old guys who run around in overalls or jumpsuits and only shave on special occasions.

I'm not surprised by human vanity at all....even after a catstrophe. Ever been to a funeral?

I hate funerals, the whole concept of them. Why can't the West have uplifting funerals like one of those Irish wakes?

Probably not enough Jazz musicians to cover all the funerals after Katrina.

So why don't they?

They take pains to differentiate themselves from male appearance because they know that if they get a flat and they're on the side of the road, their chances of getting free help is diminished if they look mannish. The more conspicuously female they make themselves look, the longer they sustain the benefits of femaleness.

So as the natural female hormones wane, it would stand to reason that they would try harder, not less, to appear less male. Second only to the benefits of vagina-ownership is the cult of youth. they go hand in hand.

The people I wonder about are the guys that go for the monthly $12 buzzcut to maintain a flattop.

I started cutting my own hair a year ago, and my honest opinion is that if you can't cut your own hair, you are a complete tool.

Of course, it's all because they may need help with a flat tyre.

BTW, women who don't look after themselves don't look more mannish, just less appealing.

I agree about men cutting their hair. I've just bought myself a hair trimmer and it was a liberation cutting through my locks. OK, my wife went nuts, but everyone else seems to appreciate the new look (hey, I'm losing my hair at the front anyway, longer hair starts looking pretty stupid when it's thin).

I especially love the old guys who are balding on top, and have long pony tails in back. Do they know how rediculous they look ? Do they think the pony tail some how counter balances the balding ?

Hands up those men who would date women who dress like this.
