$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Gideon', 'I') don't buy it.
You looked at your "needs?"
I have many needs. My choice in motor vehicles isn't limited to only my "needs", I am a firm believer that some semblance of Americans silly driving habits will continue right on through PO. Auto racing for example...but I wish they were all electric, THAT would be neat.

Unless you're doing off-road rescue of idiots who pull the big Darwin and decide to take the wife and newborn over the mountain on an unpassable logging trail, you don't "need" 4WD.
I live in the foothills west of Denver. Yesterday, there was close to 3 feet of snow on the ground. Was released early from work yesterday, have since shoveled about another 18" of fresh powder off the walks and for a doggie-potty zone in the backyard. Work was cancelled today. Another foot or two of snow is expected starting again this afternoon.
The family sedan, with its low clearance front air dam, can't get through a small snow berm without dragging and getting high centered. I estimate the Ford should be good for foot deep snow without undue stress.
The family sedan can't get 3 feet out of the garage without hanging up right now. The AWD is good for the grocery story, work, taking the kids to school, etc etc.
You were pretending to know what I "needed"?

I think you're one of these four things . . .
delusional, naive, misinformed, stupid
Given that you spent about 30 grand on a Ford, the fourth option is currently jumping out at me.
The web site (which, perfectly, would not let me "build and price" using Firefox) lists that vehicle as - "4WD - 32 city/ 29 mpg highway", which means maybe 28/25 actual.
Even if it was possible to "save" anybody, you think you're saving with those numbers?
Frankly, your post demonstrates precisely why this game is already over - -
Why is that, because a 100% in gasoline usage efficiency for the same number of miles isn't enough to save the universe? If every American went and improved their overall family gasoline efficiency by as much as I did in a single day, we could put a multi-million barrel a day dent in gasoline consumption, plus a little extra for rebound effect, tomorrow.
I realize it doesn't solve the overall problem of course, but I can do alot better if I decide that the family sedan should go next and become a Prius or some such.

The ahole right wingers don't care whether they destroy everything with their evil ways, and most of the leftwingers think that buying something with the word "hybrid" in the name means that they are doing their part to "save the world one gallon at a time." You got marketed, sucker.
And while getting "marketed", I have taken an efficiency increase sized step which, repeated across the country, would do alot to pull "Doom" out of "Doomer". Until the next Peak comes along, and we need to step up from 30mpg in the city to a diesel pluggable hybrid which gets 60. Or go EV and REALLY stop using gasoline.
