Any Console/Retro Gamers here?

Unread postby OneLoneClone » Mon 18 Dec 2006, 01:15:10

Heyo

Any console gamers on this board? What are you playing?

Escapism is my new friend. Got a xbox360, and played Fight Night 3 and Gears of War until I got game claw. Oh yeah and Defender which I havent played since I was a kid. Its as hard as I remember. But now I have unlimited quarters. Oh yeah and Joust, which still rules. Retrogaming on an xbox 360 feels like sacriledge tho, but I just keep doing it.

Not me. I was a Ms Pac Man addict 20 years ago, but I kicked the habit and never looked back! That whole experience was fun with all the beeping sounds and those little critters chasing you up and down the alleys while you tried to gobble up cherries and post the highest point totals. It got faster as you got better, a total addiction. When my wrist started aching I gave it up and haven't played any sort of video games since the early 80s.

I love playing Super Mario 3 on my Wii. When I'm not breaking the stupid straps. I took care of it with military grade 50/50 cord.

I am completely addicted to EverCrack. In the past I never would have let this obsession go this far but after swallowing too many red pills and reading way too doomer porn I find it hard to care.

Loved playing the Ultima series. Especially 4, 5 and 7. Better storyline than most games out there today, and yes, I still remember how Stones sounds like.

I liked how Origin packed extra trinkets with the game boxes. My cloth maps and pentagram coin is still somewhere in my storeroom. Too bad the game series had a crappy ending.

Still not sure whether I should go for the 360 or the PS3. And if I do go for a new console, I'd have to take time off Guild Wars, and I don't really have much time for games nowadays.

Hooked on Lunar Lander. I can play for hours and I can't explain why.
If you give a man a fish you will have kept him from hunger for a day. If you teach a man to fish he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I went to E3 this year for a flight sim group I write for. They had a section of older gaming consoles and stand up arcade units. One was Missile Command, and one was Lunar Lander. They played FLAWLESSLY.

I think I was on that Lunar Lander one for like an hour! I use to love that game. Gets pretty insanely hard at times too.

I cut my teeth on Battle Zone and Missile Command in college.

stop making me feel old!! ;-)

I cut my teeth on pong and I still recall the day they unloaded the first space invaders in town....

"It was a cold winter evening and the fat kid on the back of the vending truck had snot frozen to his lip"
"it was magical as the stand up came down off the back of the truck on a hydraulic lift"
"the art work on the side had visions of blasting aliens dancing through my head well before the cord was plugged in and the game was happily accepting our quarters"

Lunar lander is so much better with the throttle handle on the stand up isnt it?

Ahhh now I know whats wrong with Novus....
Seek help for "evercrack" and "asherons crack" addictions 8)

PMS - yeah if mrs pacman got you then stay away from todays games as they will eat a persons soul and come back for seconds and thirds etc etc.....

Anyone remember the guy who committed suicide because he lost his everquest character?

This all started with dungeons and dragons and I am proud to have been a d20 rolling +5 Vorpal weapon swinging participant of that era.
All this, hit points, body points, health points, life points, armor class, defense class et al originated from D&D.
Long live Gary Gygax!! ;-)

Lastly micronazi's Age of empires the conquerors is the best strategy RTS to date and I extend an open challenge to any of you feeble minded fothermuckers - bring it!! 8)

Which one? Seems like when some kid offs himself for animated sprites, it's always from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Korea...

Modded Xbox. Not ready to spring for a 360 or a PS3. Got my first game pains playing Space Invaders and Donkey Kong. The Pong machine was just starting to gather dust when I first hit the arcades.

Me too, man. Asteroids hit even harder in my town.

I've been gaming since childhood. Won my first computer in a video game contest. I was a poor kid, so winning that computer that was a big deal that totally changed my lfe, looking back. I went from hanging out with tough kids from Juvenille Hall to hanging with smart geeks on the honor roll.

But back to games. The biggest games in my life have been

during my snotnosed years
MULE - vic20
Archon - c64
Asteroids - vectors, baby
Centipede - love the rollor controller

as a young buck
Mortal Kombat
Street Fighter

<time off for living in eastern europe>

as beer commercial aged guy
QUAKE - CTF
Civ II
Tribes
Wipeout

and now in the Present (gaming bliss on xbox360)
Civ IV (err, this is the only pc game I play)
Defender! Defender! Defender! finally unlimited quarters!!!
Fight Night 3!!!
Gears of War
Dead Rising
Burnout Revenge

Still waiting for team fortress II (ten years now?)

I gotta admit I am having more fun gaming now than at any other time in my life. I have a stressfull it job at a conpany comrised alomost entirely of type a assholes (myself included), so having a hobby that takes off some steam really helps.

Plus, if I'm gaming online I can't drink too much or I totally suck- so it keeps that in check. heh.

Anyway, if anybody is playing xbox 360 games online add me my Gamertag is OneLoneClone.
