Yeah. When Dick Cheney gets elected poster of the year, you'll know something fishy was going on.

OK...voting is now complete for the remaining awards.

Drumroll please.... :-D

ImageFor Best Sig Line of 2006, the winner is Holmes with "Crush the Cornucopians, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women"

ImageFor most absurd/wingnutish post of 2006, the winner is "any post by Raphael". Raphael amazingly managed to get more votes than the other 6 nominees combined. Give him a hand folks. He worked hard for this award.

ImageThe Best of 2006 award for best avatar goes to Zardoz.

ImageThe award for funniest post goes to Madpaddy for his quip "May all your children have small dicks even the girls"

Image The award for post with the best sociopolitical insight goes to gg3 for this post: link

ImageIn a tight race, the award for best overall thread goes to US Army strategic report on PO confirms our fears. Since Zardoz started the thread, I guess he gets to accept the award, but thanks to all those that contributed.

ImageThis brings us to the Poster of the Year award. This award was really hotly contested. There were 43 people nominated for this award and there were 287 votes cast in the poll. I'd like to give a big shout out to all the nominees and everyone that has contributed to make PO.com such a wonderfull place. The handsdown winner of the Best of 2006 Poster of the Year award is Dantespeak. Congratulations!

Lets give them all a big hand folks!

This is not something I ever expected.

My thanks go out those 43 others mentioned having great posts, and also to all the members of PO.com.

Looking forward to some great insights here in 2007 from every one.

It's nice to be winning at something.

It reminds me of a time I was about to sit a school exam in Economics. As my teacher handed me the exam paper he commented. "The only way you'll pass that paper is to eat it".

He was wrong, I Aced the paper but I still laugh when I recall the moment.

I was robbed... this thing is obviously rigged.

Somebody call Diebold.
The problem is, of course, that not only is economics bankrupt, but it has always been nothing more than politics in disguise... economics is a form of brain damage.

Gosh, two awards. I'm humbled.

*dabs at welling eyes with tissue*

Thanks to the posters who made the thread so good, and thanks to BushCo and all those other "leaders" for providing so much avatar fodder.

I'd also like to thank my manager, my publicist, my agent, etc., etc...

Thanks Mr. Bill for your clear explanations of markets and related matters. I already mentioned this in the poll comments, but some may have missed that.

There are many others to thank for making this a great meeting place, but unfortunately the list would be too long to make here.
It's already over, now it's just a matter of adjusting.

Most unofficially, I'd like to add to Dante's trophy case the award of "PO.com Gentleman of the Year."

That's because everything he says is marked by fairness, reasonableness, and maturity and is delivered without any condescension or unpleasantness.

You're a class act, Dante.

Let the nominations begin for 2007. This was one of my favorite threads. It ended way back in February but was still excellent.

Also Kudos to Phebagirl for her kind, friendly, caring nature.

Glad to see the experts and idiots getting along...as oracle I would have predicted it.
