$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ashurbanipal', 'Q')uestion is, will this be the meltdown, or just a recession? My guess is the latter, but we will see.
I think so too. For the past two years contrarian financial prognosticators have predicted a severe recession in the third quarter of 2006.
This news item may indicate the big boys really are getting out while the getting is good.
Here's the original Bloomberg article:

"
Stock sales by America's corporate chieftains exceeded purchases last month by the widest margin since 1987"
I'm old enough to remember the recessions of '83 and '88. I was a low-wage worker at that time. Jobs were scarce. Bosses were mean because they could be. You got little sympathy because everyone knew some worse-off than you.
I'll never forget the poor whites I saw rolling into Texas from Illinois and Michigan in their rusted-out junker cars with all their earthly possessions tied on top of the car.
I felt sorry for them because they had no air conditioning and poor social skills. They did not integrate well.
On the upside, customer service at fast-food places was excellent because people were scared to death of losing their jobs.
