If I had to do it again, I'd get a more down to reality trades skill job. Electrician, plumber, carpenter, mabye bicycle mechanic. These jobs you can do anywhere, and maybe you'll have to be flexible as to where you live.
If we do get into true global warming, maybe you'll be up north, otherwise to save energy, going south may be your best bet.
By the way, back in the day, we felt pissed off too at being dealt the Vietnam War card.
So many are so gloomy here, but lets remember that humans survived, and enjoyed life, a long time with minimal petroleum, and it looks like in the logner run, they'll learn to do it again. Not that long ago really, my grandfather as a youth experienced little of the petroleum lifestyle. Got his first car in 1924 at the age of 33. Did he enjoy life before that? Sure he did. North American people, except some Indians, did not live in huts before 1910.
