$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Novus', 'I')f you think that asteroid is bad take a look at
This. No more earth at all in 6000 years. It bring new meaning to the biblical quote: "And the earth, moon, and sun shall pass away."
Even if it misses us by millions of miles or even billions of miles we would still get sucked into it.
Or it could happen next year if this
Experiment goes wrong. The scientists say it is "unlikely" to distroy the earth and the chances of something going wrong is "totally miniscule." Yeah totally. I don't think they should be doing it if it has any chance at all to distroy the Earth.
Sorry to say, but your speculations about particle accelelator creating black hole/stable strangeletts or some other bizzare Earth devouring entity are
plain nonsense.
Every day we receive cosmic radiation particles 9 orders of magnitude as powerful, as any Earth bound machine of current design could possibly create.
Yet look - nothing happens!
You are not understanding words "non zero probability".
There is also non zero probability, that you would survive 1 year in the core of Sun, but yet you do not have to bother yourself about this tiny "chance" given to you.
For all practical purpose you would be burned and coverted ito plasma in first split second.
Massive black hole entering Solar System?
I would give my life to see it. Last few years of spectacle could be reaaly interesting.
Just imagine planetary orbits getting gradually distorted, fantastic opical illusions, when you look towards a hole (those due to gravitaional lensing).
Sadly, you would not be given opportunity to cross an event horizon, to observe so called trapped surface and blue shifted light coming effectively from other Universe and many many briliant features, surely present there
unless galactic mass black hole had came...
It is so sad, that I will never see that...may be in my future life, if there is such a thing?
PS. Article, you refferred to contain plenty of misconceptions about black hole. I will not bother to debunk them now.
