Future career outlook prospects?

Unread postby cynicalheretic » Tue 14 Nov 2006, 22:08:00

I was just curious what would be a good field for someone to go into that is bad in math?

I was thinking of going into media journalism with a focus on digitial video production, or just becoming a history teacher.

Digital video production? What makes you think that will be a good field to be in?

Bad at math? I would recommend becoming a live musician before I would recommend trying for a career in video production.

Just how "bad at math" are you? I'm having trouble thinking of any worthwhile careers that don't involve math.

Think of math like a guitar, some people can play well with minimal training. Most of us have to practice for weeks or months before we're able to do anything even remotely impressive. Since Stairway to Heaven is way sexier than algebra most of us fail to see the point in putting forth all that effort.

Being that this is PO.com, I'd suggest biology, genetics, or agriculture/horticulture. Those don't use alot of math, as far as I'm aware, so you might fit into those and they will have pretty good prospects in the PO future, especially the last two.

Media journalism? You wanna be the WH's bitch your entire life?

I can't speak for agriculture/horticulture, But for Biology and genetics you at least have to have Algebra in the bag, some Calculus is good to.
