Let me know if China is tearing down coal fired generators.
Let me know when we stop building more coal fired generators.
GM... A New Hummer Yipee.
Let me know when the greeny-weenies start begging for Nukes.
Let me know when the Kennedy's stop whining about wind turbines.

Avoid??? You gotta be kidding.

We're peddle to the metal making it happen.
Yes, we are. As we are.

Al Gore flies on commercial airliners, and is leveraging his energy use to produce reductions in overall energy consumption far in excess of his 1/N share of an airliner. And whatever you think of his politics, he is a damn good science teacher..

Sort of like saying it is OK it is to be an alcoholic creating misery for your family as long as you can use your considerable wealth to fund alcoholic treatment centers for others. I don't buy it. Until we can power airlines using a non-polluting alternative (impossible right?) I don't think we should be taking Al Gore seriously.

I agree that Al Gore is a damn good science teacher but he needs to stop setting a bad example for everybody. Too many people see his movie Inconvenient Truth and get this seriously conflicting message that it's OK to zigzag around the world but on other hand you should be cutting back on fossil fuel use. It's as if the problem isn't dire enough.

Al...WAKE UP!

Change is coming. People are starting to get really scared, so the general consensus is changing. We're in for a world of extreme pain, but I think we could turn on a dime technologically. There are huge profits to be made from research development and implementation, and without Bushco at the helm, a means to get things done quickly.

Gore did what he could without going completely Amish on us.

Wow, nothing gets past you guys. So has anybody hit Al with these hard questions? I look for 'Al Gore airline' and the like but just get references to your complaints, and stuff about him relaxing airline standards and the like.
I remember a post on this forum where someone whacked someone for wasting time with pointless blather powered by coal powered computers...hard to not be hypocritical to some degree here, dontcha think?

Billg, an airliner with a decent load of passengers gets over 50 passenger/miles per gallon. But hey, the ball's in your court: how do you suggest Mr. Gore get around in order to maximize his teaching capacity?

Did you know that a nitpicker is a cross between a nitwit and a nosepicker?

Dude, that was funny as hell. And right on target. Recreational pot heads are a hoot. You don't even have to smoke the stuff to enjoy the party if there are enough of them around.

"Oooh! Ice cream with hot salsa topping! Just divine!"

"I'm busy playing laser-pointer tag with the cat..."

They always come up with weird food combinations or get busy playing with cats. You can get the giggles just watching.

The only thing is, you don't want your Community Defense to be smokin' the green stuff. "Hey wow man, look at the fireworks..!" No reefers for two or three days before duty rotations.

It's hard not to be "hypocritical" when our infrastructure is set up to offer so few rational alternatives.

I don't think I'm being nitpicky. If everybody lived like Al, the poles would have already melted a long time ago. Check out the gorey details about Al's lifestyle from USA Today.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/ed ... reen_x.htm

Are you sure that Al flies via passenger plane? The article above says that he promotes his film using a private jet.

Also, Al's addiction to jet fuel is being used by vested interests to debunk the message of his film. This is an inconvenient consequence of being hyprocritical. Here's an article from the Competitive Enterprise Institute applauding Al for embracing the power of hydrocarbons.
http://www.cei.org/gencon/003,05340.cfm

As far as your question about how Al could harness his teaching capacities better? I believe a previous post regarding the utilization of telecommunications answered that.

Am I being mean-spirited by whacking Al Gore? Sure. But, the man needs a good spanking for being so so silly.

Truly you cant take any more cheaper a shot than to snipe at Al Gore.

I consider it ironic that while Gore has gone on and used his name and his reputation to further the cause of promoting awareness of the Climate Change, the man "elected" into the worlds most powerful public office has presided over one calamity after another and run roughsod over the civil liberties of his own people as well as those of other nations. His administration has misled on numerous occassions and has looked to stifle any meaningful efforts to tackle the serious issues at hand.

If theres even just an ounce of the "Inconvenience" in some of the "Truth" weve been told then we will all have more to worry about than Al Gores alleged "hypocritical" use of a plane to promote his message. Typical that so much effort has been put into knocking one guy when apparently its the other 6 billion people who need a good reality check !

And thats the matter at hand isnt it ?

Youve got 6 Billion people relying on an environment that looks to deprive many of them of water, their food , their lands , and ultimately their lives and that course looks set if we dont change our ways within 10 years.
