What you describe is not unique to this country, nor is it even unique to our species. You are simply describing the human amplification of coalition formation. Its a simple biological reality, that animals with brains large enough to purposefully act in concert with another, form coalitions to achieve mutually desired objectives. And, as in nature, these objectives are often indisputably violent or predatory.

Human history is not dominated by the triumph of ethics over economics.

I wouldn't get your hopes up in a world with declining food and energy production.
Yes, we are. As we are.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ElijahJones', 'I')t is best for the broadest possible representation to be effected in government.

Have you driven around the US lately?

Thank goodness most people don't vote. If they did, the Ponzi scheme would grow incredibly worse.

Rubbish. Can you point to any nation in the history of the world where this condition did not exist?

Nation-states? No. Tribal societies are another story.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('ElijahJones', 'W')hat I meant was more like a base level equality. Economic equals makes no sense, but equal opportunity does.

The U.S. constitution tries to establish that. I am a Libertarian. I believe all persons should have equal rights under the law.

As you say, the Ponzi scheme occurs when one interest group attempts to use the law to take advantage of some other group.

That is not equality under the law.
