HBO Documentary: Hacking Democracy

Unread postby mmasters » Fri 03 Nov 2006, 01:23:12

Anybody else see this? I was quite impressed.

It showed all kinds of ways electronic voting systems can be manipulated and demonstrated many of them on actual voting machines. At the same time it showed Diebold smeer campaigning at nearly everyone and everything questioning the validity of their products. This got really pathetic after seeing endless bugs and loopholes which completely compromise the voting machines. Couple this with Diebold's constant lying and Cheneyesque defense tactics it's clear what's really going on.

I have to say the 90 minute presentation made a compellingly solid case that voting machines and Diebold in particular can't be trusted whatsoever.

Curious to see what kind of response this generates (I don't have my hopes THAT high, but I think it could be interesting...)

Yeah right.. anyone willing to look through 5 million lines of source code can EASILY verify that the machines are perfect. What has got me wondering is why they need 5 million lines of source code to add one number to another. Ohwell... that's them technology boxes for yous.

LOL...

Yeah I wondered that too, it's like they coded a whole new operating system to do basic math.

Have to suppose the logic is:

A lot of code appears important.
Elections should appear important.
We need a lot of code for our voting machines.

Yeah after all.... the following C code is just so hard to actually ... use.. and stuff.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', '
')//init
int gwbush_votes=1000;
int kerry_votes=-100;
//do this in loop
while(1) {
canditate=get_candidate();
switch(candidate)
{
case kerry: kerry_votes += 1;
case george_bush: gwbush_votes += 2;break;

}
}

Any C programmers notice the lack of break; on the kerry vote? :lol: I'm so nerdy.
