P.S. Wednesday - DOGS ARE COOL! They're soulful and affectionate. They love to be part of a family. Some people just don't get this - they spend way too much time intellectualizing and it's their loss.

I bet I could introduce you to a dozen people down here in Iron County that would make you think of that character. Deliverance, checkered flannel shirt, overalls, work boots, beard, and shotgun along with missing teeth and chewing tobacco, physically powerful, but all good and friendly to their neighbors. You might mistake me for one of them, except I have all my teeth, am on the scrawny side, do not chew, and have not opted for overalls yet.

My wife and I have a difference of opinion; she thinks that most people in St. Louis would do just what you said in a SHTF situation, stay put in familiar surroundings instead of take a chance in the unknown backwoods, no matter what the level of desperation. I figure at least a few, particularly those used to coming down in the fall to this area to hunt, would take the chance, but then that is one of the reasons why we hill farts are armed to the hilt.

Have you ever been down this way, say to Pilot Knob or Johnson Shutin, or Elephant Rock?

Sorry, forgot this is supposed to be something light; that old doomer in me just keeps jumping out.

I do intend to leave St. Louis and get off the grid, but if I haven't done that by the time TSHTF, I'm probably not going anywhere.

I'd probably get along pretty fine with the folk there, provided there aren't too many racists around. Maybe when I finish that electric Triumph GT6, I'll have to take a trip down there. I'd hazard a guess that such a vehicle would be a major culture shock to the people there.

I can't say I've ever stopped in any of the towns, but I have explored quite a few rural areas while committing certain illegal and/or quasi-legal activities in Illinois and Missouri. Don't worry. I've never harmed anyone or their property, but the heat has tried to get me too many times for comfort.

I have so much cheer today! Its winter rest time! I am going to spend a beutiful rainy romantic weekend with my beutiful sexy loving girlfriend. Made reservations at this wonderful resort (i never do that stuff! resort to me is a wilderness, orchard or crop land. hahaha) I am going to also take a nice walk with her and her mom and dad. Her mom might cook dinner and shes one of these amazing cooks. take her german shorthair for a walks in the park.
Its winter and its not my season but Winter is rest time and very nurturing. The long outdoor season of running wilderness and peaking mtns breaks my body so I now listen to soothing music and spend lots of time being intimate, resting and quiet. Nurture the soul. Enjoy the physical and phsycological connections between two lovers.
Simple pleasures are wonderful. and the only way I can live.
Forget the election. Just realize this ship is sinking fast and just do what u can at the present time. Love people and build "gangs" of loving caring people that want nothing to do with anything power mad and egoist.
I love where I live as well. Rural and still conservative and free.
The lady lives in the big city so its nice to get over and visit the culture over there. So yeah I love life! I know alot of it is evil bvut try and make as little of an impact on this planet as possible. I swear if people did this more it would be such a simple and free place. Conscienceious free thinking citizens is what we really need.
However I still have to work! : - (

I picked up a sack of apples last night for 59 cents a pound. Organic as well. They sell them everywhere out here. I love giving away fruit. Thats what I do as gifts. I get so much for free or nearly free that I have it piled up in my apartment. Vegtables as well. Yummy! The simple gifts of the earth are great. Use oil sparingly as well. It makes u feel better when u do. I do anyway,

Hey u two ladies are alright! Thanks for the lite and nice thread. I love it! Wednesday a dog would be nice. What about finding a good man? I know there are hardly any left out there but maybe there is. Way better than a dog. Materialism and this shitstem has consumed the men it seems. Its twisted. Woman are not getting the unconditional love they need. IMHO. Now Im talking about woman not the idiots that parade around as woman.

Thanks, Holmes, for your thoughts. Sounds like you have a pretty good thing going there.

Yeah, I think we just need to get back to our roots. Simpler life - more free time, time to really love our families, our surroundings. A simple Christmas, instead of a whirlwind.

I'm cooking for my parents and the rest of the clan this weekend (celebrating an anniversary) - think I'll make beef stroganoff, maybe some scalloped potatoes.

Now I'm back to cleaning.

My husband likes dogs too. I am still not allowed to have one until we move. My husband would be happy with a cat or two, but I'm holding out for a mutt with some shepherd in it.

Sorry for the delay in responding; I was out of town on a visit to two of my grandchildren (and their mom and dad).

As to racism, that is a fact of life everywhere; just something that we all need to realize that was inflicted upon us during our childhoods and need to deal with, and I mean all of us.

I am particularly interested in how your electric car project works out. I have thought on occasion that taking an old gas tractor and installing an electric motor, coupled with batteries and solar recharge capabilities would be worth experimenting with for small scale farming during the peakdown; please keep posting your progress, as I for one would like to see what you have done.
