$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('perdition79', 'i')n a couple years.

Couple of years? More like some time within the next 3 weeks.

I'm predicting the US government will make an announcement before the election, stating that they have taken down a major domestic terrorist organization, and several thousand "suspected terrorists" will be rounded up. Sure, they'll trot out some vaguely middle-eastern looking "inside man" to put a brown face on it (He may even say he got orders from Iran), but the bulk of the "suspects" will in fact be known dissident leaders and political opponents.

What would be the point? The Republicans and Democrats are the same ruling group. I don't think the people who pull their strings care much one way or another which bodies occupy the positions of power. The political contributors make payments to both sides.

Who are these political opponents of whom you speak? Other than the pretend Republican/Democrat political battles what political opposition to government is there?

All those in power want is enough fear out there for the populus to blindly keep the flag warpped around them and to keep marching to the voting polls, rubber stamp in hand.

Because I'm not entirely convinced that there will be sufficient political will to go forward with the airstrikes on Iran after the election. Nor am I entirely convinced that the current power structure is as stable and secure as we are led to believe.

A big round-up prior to the elections will provide a consolidation of power (if it's under the pretext of an anti-terror measure) and will solidify support for the airstrikes while the Republicans know they can sneak them in.

There was another similar bill signed at the same time?

S 3930

OK - Same thing - different name.

This is a must read.
At first if you are like me and try to speed read everything one can get the impression that much of this is designed to cover our asses on issues like guantanimo et al and all war crimes since 911 yet if you reread it carefully you will see that it can apply to anyone all the time.

Yes indeed us,you,me - everyone.

Gego - they might go after people like Ron Paul or Bartlett.
PO may become an issue of national security and then they could shut this site down NP.
Aaron Russo - Alex Jones - Mike Ruppert etc etc.....

PM - See the definition of "lawful" and "unlawful" enemy combatant.
It certainly applies to anyone doing anything against the "empire".

From unions on strike to those wacky guys up in michigan et al.

"Whoa to he of earth and sea for the devil sends the beast with wrath for he knows the time is short - let he who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast for it is a human number - its number is six hundred and sixty six"
or not? ;-)

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('gego', 'T')he deal is that life has not yet become bad enough for people to react. This is why the ruling class has been able to take most of the increase in economic output over the years. They give just enough to the masses so that life improves a little and this takes away any incentive to rebel. When the economic pie contracts and the burden of this contraction is born by the masses, then you will see some unrest. This unrest will spur the powers to then use things like the Military Commissions Act to surpress opposition, and the circle of violence will ensue.

Yep.. this is the root of the inaction. An educated/intelligent person could see how certain laws or acts by the government could be wrong using history as an example even. But until that government has put it's boot into your head the average masses won't think anything of it. Even some of the above average people will "put trust" into their government.. "they wouldn't hurt us.. we're Arrrrmuricans". Yet how much proof do they need of their government hurting them in the past 10 years alone.

Wow... another thing we can blame the majority of sheep for.... I'm pulling them from this never ending bag of manure. Anyone going to be a good shepherd and lead them off a cliff?
