The RotaTorque engine

Hello,
my name is Markus Schoenrock from Germany.
I invented a new kind of Rotary Combustion Engine. You can see everything about the RotaTorque Engine on my private Homepage www.rotatorque.com.
My brother just translated it to english and I hope it is understandable.
As you can see, the first Prototype is ready and works.
For the next stage of development I want to build a second "evolutioned" Prototype. There are lots of investigations to be made, such as electronic ignition, injection, some hours Dyno testing and so on.
I try to find people who can help me to start the next stage, so I make the RotaTorque Engine as public as possible.

I am looking foreword to your reactions
and hope you understood my poor English.

I enjoyed your web site.

You expressed concern of sticking vanes. This will be a great challenge, I think.

Unlike other sliding vane devices, which are self lubricated, yours will be subject to combustion wear on the vane surfaces. This will change the vane float, over time.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.
It's not hard to do.

Very interesting. Reminds me a bit of the Quasiturbine, which I think would have fewer wear issues.

I have a question. How low can you get the rpm of the engine? If it is low enough it can make a great engine for a moped (motorised bicycle).

I'm thinking about (the idea of) making the entire rear wheel of bicycle into your engine.

No, it's not practical. If you want hub motors, you will have to go electric for now.
Stop filling dumpsters, as much as you possibly can, and everything will get better.

Just think it through.

Dear ohanian,

each RotaTorque engine needs a minimum speed. The second Prototype is constructed to work from 350 - 2500 1/min. Below 350 centrifugal force is too low and over 2500 the speed of the vanes will become to fast. The second design is only a practical size to test and to show.
As you can see on the "Doppelzuender" the Rotatorque concept can be up or down sized just as it is needed.

I would be interesting if a variable center design could be incorporated, thus allowing a variable displacement engine, similar to the variable vane hydraulic pumps. Figuring out how to get compression and expansion chambers into that type of design would be diffiult though

While I believe that internal combustion may be the wrong road to travel, blatantly ridiculing people who are trying to think outside the box is counter productive. If you must, attack the design not the designer. Otherwise you are just taking up valuable disk space and backup resources.

I'm trying to think of another niche application for your engine.

What are the advantages of your engine design that rich people are prepare to pay a premium for?

I'm thinking about

(1) Weight/Mass [ Is it very light? ]
(2) Lack of vibration [ Is it very smooth? ]

If you can fulfill the above two criteria then you can market your engine as a glider sail plane engine.

Rich people are prepare to pay a premium for glider engines.

Some glider only weights 285kg!!! Every kilogram counts.
