After some consideration, I think it would be best to keep these two issues separate. Feel free to offer some constructive critisicm on this flyer, but I believe this time i've covered all of my bases.

Well, I'd list po.com before laotoc, but I'm probably biaised.

Seriously, I think it is a good idea to split it away from 9/11 like this.

1. Change this line:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his is, in my opinion, the greatest threat to life as you have known it for the past few decades.

To this:

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'T')his is the greatest threat to civilization that has ever existed.

And I'll explain why:

-First, when Joe Sixpack sees "In my opinion", his first reaction is to ask himself "Why should I care about this tubesteak's opinion?" Don't give him the choice.

-Second, it might sound melodramatic to the layman, but the threat represented by PO really can't be overstated.

2. PO.com should definitely take top billing over LATOC. Not that there's anything in particular wrong with the information on LATOC (It's a pretty good primer), but look at the site. It's all "Buy my book", which takes away from it's credibility a bit. You should also have the website for the Oil Drum.

3. What exactly is a "world of trouble"? I know how bad "bad" can get, but your target audience won't.

4. Definitely a good choice going with 1 topic only. Not that there's anything wrong with talking about 9/11, but people need to take baby steps. You can't inundate them. Besides, if they visit here, they will come across a 9/11 thread sooner or later anyway.
The whole of human history is a refutation by experiment of the concept of "moral world order". - Friedrich Nietzsche

Oh I like this one much better, but why pick on Matt?

I'm guessing Matt gave you permission to use his site as a source?

Maybe you can use him as a source without naming him? I duno, maybe he doesn't care.

Much better!

(what you think, Matt?)

Did you realize that more people believe that the Bush Adminstration had something to do with 9/11 than believe that we are running out of oil.

Matt, will probably want to charge for the use of the information (even if it is a free flyer) :P

Matt already summarized his opinion of handing out flyers at the LAFTOC forum = "Purely dumbass." Wickan then roasted Matt in the Hall of Flames. Love love love.

You mention Matt on this poster without explaining who he is. One thing he isn't is a household name.

I've never paid much attention to the business end of LAFTOC myself. I recommend it to people as what they need first off is a solid primer and it can't be beat for that. Send 'em here and they'll wonder where to start.

I prefer "world of shit" to "world of trouble," having watched Full Metal Jacket about 50 times.

If my experience is any guide googling peak oil leads to an awareness of our impending recession/depression, which leads to the topic of US fascism, which leads to an understanding of the events behind the collapse of wtc 7... Somewhere in that mix global warming and water shortage issues become obvious threats... Still, I'm torn between the idea that I'm onto something and the idea that my prozac just quit working : )

Oh, ain't bad but doesn't have the same ring.

Kubrick brough R Lee Ermey onto the set of FMJ as an advisor, then quickly realized he was the man for the role.

"I will motivate you, Private Pyle, if it short-dicks every cannibal on the Congo!"

Do they have a book of invective you can buy? Was looking at a website full of the old "In days of old when knights were bold" type lines.

In days of old, when knights were bold and toilets weren't invented, knights dumped their loads along the roads and walked away contented.

In days of old, when knights were bold and women hadn't been invented They drilled some holes in telegraph poles and went home quite contented.

Well, that's not cool. I would leave his name out of it.
