$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('TITAN', 'M')y guess on the crazy black guy: He's a 'domestic terrorist'...

My guess is that he's some sort of fed. For one thing he does seem to be genuinely interested in the safety and well being of the locals. The guns he pulled out of the Mini-storage were all brand new identical M16s. Everyone knows that terrorists use AK47's. Also it would be terrifically non-PC to have the only black guy on the show turn out to be a terrorist. I guess they could soften that a bit by having his family expose him.

He obviously had foreknowledge of the attack. Could play out a few different ways. Maybe it was a false flag attack by the US government? Maybe the feds got wind of it, but couldn't stop it and didn't want announce it because people would panic? They're obviously setting him up to look like a terrorist, but I'm guessing there's a plot twist coming.

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('Laughs_Last', 'W')ell the mystery is solved. In episode 5 we learned that the black guy and the mayor’s younger son were both pool guys.

Maybe they were "Plumbers", remember G.Gordon Liddy? Yikes!

Looks like CBS is pleased with its ratings as it dominated the 18-49 male demographic for wensday night. I think Jericho will be here to stay for a few seasons.

Eh, well if you see that as complete social collapse I guess you missed the Katrina coverage last year! In the Pilot you had several people wandering too and fro through town with shouldered shotguns and rifles, why the heck are they absent now that they are actually needed to maintain law and order in town and the surrounding food producing area's?

To me, this show is turning out as bad as Lost - an initially good premise with hardly any weekly progress and no apparent direction.

Last night's episode was a bit of a letdown. How in the hell can people remain that calm after the total collapse of civilization? Despite this fact, it's still some of the best doomer porn since "The Day After."

I enjoyed watching kids playing stickball with cellphones, horse theft, hoarding pesticides, the EMP blast, and the black girl learning to shoot a gun. Did anyone notice how the deputy at the end of the episode was still wearing his 2-way radio, despite the EMP blast?

Inertia.
People will continue acting as usual even well after it makes no more sense; only when absolutely forced will they change.

Basil is right...

The show is getting kinda boring.

I still like it but increasingly less so.

I'll second that.

Jericho sucks. Started out ok, then nose dived into stupidity. More action and less soap opera drama is needed to save this sorry mess.

I think for shows like Jericho and Lost the writers are unsure if the show will have legs for multiple seasons or get axed (remember Invasion?). That uncertainty disrupts the flow and it can never maintain the pace of shows like 24.

Finally an episode with some meat!

Cargo bandits on the edge of town, older vehicals restored to working condition, attempted shootings and jail breakouts!

This is a lot more realistic, though it still has a long way to go. Glad to see they are getting the writing together so that it makes a bit more sense.

I liked the idea of raiding a neighboring town for supplies. That's XXX doomer porn right there.

I don't know about risking the lives of 2 guys in their 30's to save the life of 1 guy well into his 60's though. That seems like a poor investment of resources.

Oh boy! Looks like fast driving AND shooting next week!
Maybe even a heart tug as a brother is lost...LOL

Can't wait!

Is that a Roadrunner or a Charger they're driving? Sweet rig.
I've driven a Super Bee with a B&M 4-on-the-floor. At about 100 mph it rises off it's shocks and feels like you're riding on a floating platform. A very large, 6.5 feet wide, 21 feet long floating platform.

There's obviously some kind of sinister plot going on in the background. But if the network tools can't blame this on our government, I'm guessing China gets the blame. Then the writers will start laying the propaganda down thick!

$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'A')t about 100 mph it rises off it's shocks and feels like you're riding on a floating platform.

Definately has way too much lift. Might I suggest lowering the front end an inch or two, installing a full bellypan with a rear diffuser, and adding a small spoiler optimized to reduce drag and increase downorce?

A car that gets squirrely at over 100 mph isn't any fun, IMO.

Aftermarket baloney on a beautiful stock rig that already has a nose cone? I think not, but thanks for the suggestion. Who said anything about squirrely? Super smooth! Like a flying brick carpet! Super Bee's drag race, they don't do ovals, so they don't need to stick at 125 mph, just fly like a powerbrick.

I love the way the show writers handled the "government sends the national guard out to restore order" part by invoking the mercs (Ravenwood, i.e., Blackwater). You see, it seems made to appear that the government gave an order to mercs, and the mercs misinterpreted it, and are now whack-happy from too many days in Iraq. This device makes the government "blameless", sweet! And it looks like domestic terrorists may be tied in with foreign terrorists, further making the government completely blameless, double sweet! Next week, or maybe the week after, looks like a showdown in Jericho between the mercs and the townies.

The comment by Skeet to his brother during the ride to town was clutch, when his brother wanted to stop for the corpse in the road. Something about "we live in a different world now, we're going to do things my way" was quite revealing - the first thing to go out the door when faced with survival is morals.

True doomer porn, as stated by others.

The show brought up a good point about cars made post 1991 getting their computers fried by emp pulses. I have thought about buying a a mid 80's Blazer, but in the event of a emp pulse don't you still have to replace the cylanoid or distributor?

In between Dallas and the family ranch my father in law has a lakehouse. In the garage is a Original Stock 1969 Black on Yellow Mach 1 Mustang like this one below. only difference is that it has the old style factory hubcap instead of the rims.

I'm not allowed to touch it. In a SHTF pinch however I don't think he'd mind if I borrowed it to make sure his daughter and grandchildren are safe, and yeah I know where the keys are.

Good show last night. I enjoyed the mercenary group. Fun commentary on the use of mercenaries in Iraq. Looks like more action next week, too.

I'm really enjoying the show so far. A little soap opery in places (OK, a lot soap opery), and I can do without the cheesy melodramatic piano music, but overall a pretty good display of doomer porn.

From a doomer porn standpoint, that was some of the best TV since 'The Day After'. I'm now a Jericho fan.
