I hope once the furor over the book calms down a little bit that he accepts my invitation to participate here.

If he does, do have anything you'd like to put to him?

Mike's been doing what seems like a consciousness-raising campaign with a passion under the heading:

- Welcome to the horrifying reality that whistleblowers have suffered and fought through every day, over lifetimes. No more illusions. This is reality.

FTW Economic Alert

As The World Burns

By
Michael C. Ruppert

-- But when the run on the dollar begins, OPEC will inevitably at some point switch its pricing to the Euro, which the entire world is wrangling - much to Europe's chagrin - into not only a safe-haven currency, but a profitable one. The next house is being built before the old one is abandoned. When the run on the dollar begins, it will be as if the rest of the world declared war on the United States of America by launching a missile, dropping a bomb, or landing an army at Bethany Beach, Delaware. That this will lead ultimately to widespread global warfare seems certain. This is exactly the way the administration is setting it up to appear to the American people. Think of 9/11 times fifty.

The rest of the world is merely defending itself with non-violent means - for the moment. But it will be portrayed as an attack upon the US. "Why?" George Bush will ask, rhetorically. "They hate us because of our freedom."

And, barring a miracle, the end results will be exactly the same as from a physical attack: devastation so complete and unthinkable - magnified by the brutal impacts of Peak Oil - that only a few will even try to prepare for it. That is sad because preparation will make all the difference (barring luck or divine intervention) in who survives and to what extent they remain intact and functioning afterwards.

IMMEDIATE ADVICE

Take this to heart as if your welfare depended upon it. Do it as if the crisis was upon you today. These are only immediate steps. FTW is about to undergo a major reorganization so that we may bring you better real-time information and more solutions or options as they become available.
$this->bbcode_list('1')
  • Curtail all unnecessary spending.
  • Reduce credit card balances.
  • Get to know and become friends with your neighbors on all sides.
  • Keep (at least) a week's worth of cash and food in your home.
  • Look at your residence and ask yourself what you could do to improve it if there were no heat and no electricity. Start preparing for both. Look at your insulation (if you own), your windows, curtains (a great source of heat loss) and roof.
  • Buy physical gold, not paper gold. I am convinced that we will see gold reach at least $600 per ounce in 2005. It's a great way to hedge against a falling dollar.

  • These steps may not seem like much on paper. But when the deluge comes they will give you a head start that may save your life.

    Die Off

    Unread postby EnviroEngr » Sun 26 Dec 2004, 02:00:25

    There are, as I recall, about 6 discussion threads scattered about which look at different aspects of Die-Off specifically (by title). A Search should find them.

    Insofar as a life saved is a life taken is concerned, I am fascinated by your thinking. We could take this up on http://www.peakoil.com/fortopic334.html

    Also, look at pup55's Die-Off models in Depletion Modeling.

    Thanks.

    Although the mainstream media does not talk about this. Many intellectual like Robert loony from the navy war college wrote a article refuting the whole idea. {let me know how you want this edited -- it's a bit choppy; EE}

    http://www.ccc.nps.navy.mil/si/nov03/middleEast.pdf

    I actually posted another article on this along with a poll.

    Did you get that link right? It's about petrodollars vis a vis the Euro?

    Maverick,

    I read the post you linked. Its interesting now to use hindsight on the article and see how his assumptions as to why the dollar will remain the reserve currency pan out. One, he states that the appreciation of the Euro against the dollar won't continue based on the continued growth of the U.S. economy. That has proved incorrect. The U.S. Economy has grown, but so has its twin deficits, and the Euro has continued to appreciate to all time highs. Second, but related to the first, he states the biggest threat to the dollar remaining as the world reserve currency are the twin deficits and low savings rates. In fact, our deficits each year get larger and larger, and we have no savings, thus, the dollar continues its fall. He also points out the fact that it would be hard to get off the dollar as the currency for trading in oil, bc it is traded on NYMEX. However, the Iranians are developing their own oil bourse for the purpose of trading oil in Euros, scheduled to begin sometime in 2006. Last, it is more and more probable that the Chinese will revalue their yen, distancing themselves from the dollar, and again, this year, the Russians have once again talked about trading oil in Euros. So, many of the assumptions made in this article have not proven true in just the last year and a half. There is serious risk to the dollar.

    Seahorse thanks for the insight. The biggest problem for the US is Iran. Iran has to be stopped before the bourse comes online to prevent the fall of the dollar yet if Iran is attacked the dollar will fall even faster (not to mention the military logistics). What will the Neocons do?

    Ps. It is nice to see there are some pockets of blue in a sea of red

    My state is very conservative, but surprisingly, I think about 40% voted for Kerry. I think that was in protest to the war. Despite the war protest vote across the country, the Republicans pulled off the state and national elections by introducing the gay marriage issues onto all the local ballets, which got out all the conservatives for the vote.

    I do think Iran is next. I'll be watching the State of the Union tonight to see what foreshadowing he may give us.

    Not one news update to FTW in a week? That is very rare. What is going on here? Did the CIA do away with Ruppert? Is he at a peak oil conference or something?

    AlCzervik,

    I've thought the same thing all week. Very unusual. I'm actually a subscriber, so, if there's nothing soon I'm going to complain my paper isn't being delivered.
