Top US general says Rumsfeld is inspired by God

The top US general defended the leadership of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, saying it is inspired by God.

"He leads in a way that the good Lord tells him is best for our country," said Marine General Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Rumsfeld is "a man whose patriotism focus, energy, drive, is exceeded by no one else I know ... quite simply, he works harder than anybody else in our building," Pace said at a ceremony at the Southern Command (Southcom) in Miami.

Asskisser

This is not the first time Pace has kissed Rummie or Busdh's ass. I think that's why he was promoted to the position.

The real generals must be puking over this.

The only thing I can conclude from this bizarre statement is that god wants America to get its ass kicked in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Just what we need; those in power in the USA inspired by their imaginary friend, and those in power elsewhere inspired by their equally imaginary friend. And even better their imaginary friends are telling them to kill oneanother plus a whole lot of bystanders. With friends like that I don't think they need enemies. Maybe next time they could just go to shrinks and pay for a friend instead.

The other conclusion is that they're false prophets. It seems to me that the administration is hijacking Christianity to further its own political purposes (which, by the way, is nothing new. Heard of the Crusades?).

Quite frankly I'm sick and tired of governments hijacking Christ for mere political gain. Such behaviour is treachery.

The fruit of the Bush Administration has been sour.

We're in very serious trouble, folks. When the chairman of the Joint Chiefs spouts crap like this, all bets are off. Anything bad can happen.

We're really screwed. I hope all those Dubya voters out there are happy.

If we heard this stuff coming from Iranian Generals it would be scary enough, but somewhat understandable as they have to kowtow to a religious fundamentalist political structure.

To hear it from American Generals triggers fear about what is happening at the top of the US government that a General would talk in this manner.

Meanwhile back on Planet Earth:

US trying to shirk security responsibility to Iraqi forces.

WASHINGTON - The Iraqi government is going to have to take over its country's security "sooner rather than later," Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Friday, as the violence there continued to escalate. Rumsfeld said U.S. officials, including Gen. George Casey, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, are working with the Iraqi government to develop projections as to when they think they can pass off various pieces of responsibility. He provided no details.

Mixing God and war is nothing new for American presidents. Here is something about President McKinley and his take on tranforming the Philippines from a Spanish colony to an American colony. I have often wondered how Americans of the era who were not Christian thought about this, which is not so dissimilar to what so many despise about the Islamic world today:

"I walked the door of the White House night after night until midnight: and I am not ashamed to tell you, gentlemen, that I went down on my knees and prayed Almighty God for light and guidance more than one night. And one night late it came to me this way - I don't know how it was, but it came: (1) That we could not give them back to Spain - that would be cowardly and dishonorable; (2) that we could not turn them over to France or Germany - our commercial rivals in the Orient - that would be bad business and discreditable; (3) that we could not leave them to themselves - they were unfit for self-government - and they would soon have anarchy and misrule over there worse than Spain's was; and (4) that there was nothing left for us to do but to take them all, and to educate the Filipinos, and uplift and civilize and Christianize them, and by God's grace do the very best we could by them, as our fellow-men for whom Christ also died. And then I went to bed, and went to sleep, and slept soundly, and the next morning I sent for the chief engineer of the War Department (our mapmaker), and I told him to put the Philippines on the map of the United States [pointing to a large map on the wall of his office], and there they are, and there they will stay while I am President!"

Separation of church and state.. yeah right.

Of course everyone in america assumes the god he is in "contact" with is the christian one. If a muslim leader says the same he is crazy..

How many of you still sit on your ass while your country turns to shit.. amazes me.. use the war instincts your forefathers passed onto you.
