Oil Prices please go back up!!!

Unread postby evilmonkeyspanker » Sat 07 Oct 2006, 22:52:03

I am tired of this site being so dead, I miss the good old days, when everyone was freaking out; thinking that they were going to die or have to fight for thier food.

Now though, nobody is here, oil has dropped, gas is a little cheaper and everyone who was once here has gone off to thier minivans and soccer games.

Where oh Where have all my Paranoid Schizophrenics friends gone?

Agreed. I'm also tired of my friends and family saying "I told you it would go back down.... all your doom and gloom... etc.."

Just wait.

I say, enjoy it while it last. Your family will be wearing ostrich egg soon enough.

The political realities right now allow for cheap oil/gas.

The fact of the matter, is that oil prices being low have the cards stacked against them.

The main reason that gas/oil is low right now is

A) Summer driving/vacation season is over.

B) Political tensions in the Middle East are over.

C) The heating oil crisis hasn't swept into gear.

D) Market flucuations.

There are more variables at work, but these are the main/easy to understand/identify ones at work.

Now, the Summer driving season being over has reduced prices and its toll on prices will be over.

However, the Winter will cause an increase in the use of heating oil, which in turn take up a large amount of oil, raising prices.

The political stability in the Middle East has led to some price stability, but this isn't going to last long. Akmajedhad or however you say his name, and Hugo Chavez, need Oil prices high, in order to pay for their socialist programs. If the price of oil drops, and they aren't pulling in enough revenue, then they won't be able to provide bread and circuses to their people. Once that happens, their people will throw them out.

So it's in their best interest to provoke as much trouble as possible, and create as much choas/tension fear as possible and insecurity about oil supply, in order to drive the price of oil up, thereby stabilizing their power in their countries.

About market flucuations, market flucuations go both ways, they drive the price of oil up during hard times, and down during percieved good times.

Those are a few of the main reasons.

I hope oil stays cheap forever. I know it won't, but I'm not going around wishing it would go up. DUMB, daDUMB , DUMB.

Okay, I think basically we can rule out energy shock in 2007-2010, and perhaps even further.

Well, looks like I will get time to put those solar panes up. And buy oil futures cheap:)

This is not a short movie. It's an epic.

Think of this as a short interval between scenes. Relax, go out for a smoke.

Absolutely! But I really don't get it. I heard on a NPR business show an analyst say the Geopolitical risk factor was being downplayed by the markets. But why? Iraq is still a mess. Big problems in Nigeria. Corroded piplines in Alaska. Mexico and Iran past the peak, etc. What in the world is going on? Are the Illuminatti pulling the strings here?

Maybe it's the hedge funds losing money on their crude holdings creating some kind of feedback loop. Fears of a recession in the US brought on by the housing market stalling. Plus a consensus that the UN Security Council won't do anything to stop Iran from going nuclear. I recall reading a theory that there would be periodic bust cycles with stunted recoveries that run up against inadequate oil supplies which prevent growth. The global economy goes through spasmodic trauma as it gradually ratchets down with radical up and down turns along the way. Pretty depressing really. Wait 'till people realize what a boondoggle ethanol fuel is.

That's what I call a "staircase downslope". It's my pet theory of how things are going to develop.

I'm not one to claim that the price has been engineered downwards for political purposes, but it's certainly convenient:

Our leaders wish they could control the price. The only way you could control price would be to control both supply and demand. At the moment, it looks like we can control neither.
