Can You Hear This?

Unread postby Aaron » Wed 04 Oct 2006, 19:28:19

It's the Mosquito ringtone the kids are using to avoid teachers & other adults from hearing their cell phones ringing.

After around 19 or so, the fine cilia in your ear begin to deteriorate in most people.

I'm 42... don't hear a thing.

Well I'm listening to Coleman Hawkins and I didn't hear a thing but trumpets and saxes and drums and the upright bass. No vampire effect here. But it's true, "age and cunning will beat youth and strength everytime".

I can barely hear that. Might be my speakers, prolly just my old ears though.

I'm almost 40. When I was a kid I used to be able to hear bats, and I could tell if someones TV was on when I was walking by their house as I could hear the 15 kHz horizontal sweep that CRT based TV's make (I think flat screens are quiet).

I can still hear high frequencies, though my ears are now not nearly so sensitive to them. Fading fast.

Oh well, I'm not going to miss being able to hear those tones anyway.

At full volume, with the speaker up against my ear, I can barely detect it.

It's very loud and annoying for me.

I'm 25 and use 25 year-old Klipschorns.

I can hear it fine and I'm 39. It sounds like one of those hearing test tones kind of. Annoying.

Get this, it was originally developed as a way to drive away loitering teens from stores.

:)

It's meant to be annoying... my kid tells me it's pretty bad... like nails on a chalkboard.

I wish my young ones were here to confirm... how long does it last? because I thought I heard something but it was only for a second.

Yeah... experimenting with this sound, if I jack up the treble and pump the volume I can hear it.

But only on my nice comp with the cool speakers.

I'm over 40 and can hear it fine if I turn up the speakers.

The subject line 'Can You Hear This?' reminds me of a nifty way to tell someone off. You point your middle finger down towards the floor and ask them
"Can you hear this....or should I turn it up?
Remember: 73.3% of statistics are made up
