Holy crap was it really neccessary to repost the WHOLE rant.
Although I agree impressively long winded.
$this->bbcode_second_pass_quote('', 'M')atrim, I think that when people smoke grass almost daily for decades of their lives, they wind up losing a lot. For some, like the ones I know, they get kind of dried out, wasted, empty. kind of zombiefied. lights are on, but nobody home. There are all kinds of medications that say "for occasional use only". I would say that if one likes the stuff, that it should definately be in that category. Another effect of long-term use is the kind displayed by Raph. it's a sort of deluded mental deterioration, a peculiar "craziness". Ten more years going down that road and he's going to be ready for the rubber room. He's not there yet, but I don't think the human mind is really meant for a lifetime of being stoned
I agree mostly. But I'm not sure about some of it. For example, there are also many medications that require a daily dose. In some instances I can see this being the case with marijuana. I do agree though that for many people it has a deadening factor. I think it has to do with what you were talking about earlier. For most people smoking weed brings meaning and beauty to the meaningless and ugly. But that wears off, the people that that effect was greatest on smoke a larger and larger amount attempting to recapture something thats gone. Only way to bring that back is to stop smoking for a good while. Most people who do that never really start again.
I'm a little different. As I've mentioned in another post, I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 6, so '87. Luckily I wan't put on ritalin, (mom wanted to, dad said fuck that) but as a result I didn't do well in school. Teachers hated me because I aced all my tests but never did a damn thing in class. I have a vivid imagination, figuring things out is easy, remembering useless facts is easy, but sitting still and concentrating on school is hard as hell. I found the same in the work world, every job is easy but concentrating on it for 8 hours was tough. But then I started smoking weed at work too. Haven't had problems since, and don't worry I'm not your bus driver
Basically weed makes it possible for me to concentrate on one thing long enough to get things done, without losing the full picture. You wanna see zombified? Check out a ritalin kid. Yeah they can concentrate but they had to lose something to do it. We should be giving the weed. If they had given it to me when I was in school as a medicinal aid I guarantee I would have done better than I did. But it wouldn't have worked if I had to sneak around and do it without getting caught. As a medicine used openly it would've worked wonders. I'm not saying I should've been blitzed all the time or anything, but a hoot or 2 before class would make concentrating way easier. Basically what I do on my breaks now, have 1 or 2 drags while I chat with my boss and we have our smokes (they're the real problem

). Makes work a breeze.
Anyway I'll shut up now.
Peace
